Colour INKspiration 08

Hello and welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge #08!

At Colour INKspiration, we play and create using a different colour palette every fortnight.  It’s a fantastic way to stretch your creativity and I encourage you to join in.  We have a dedicated Facebook group where you can upload your own creation to right HERE.

I missed the last challenge, so I was determined NOT to miss this one! And boy is this a challenging one!

I love this picture but I must admit, I was a bit daunted initially with the colour palette – Delightful Dijon; Tip Top Taupe; Soft Suede; Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.  But after a little pondering I realised what it reminded me of … the colours of a sepia photo …you know the ones … with just a hint of colour to highlight a certain area.

Once I had that idea in my head I knew exactly which stamp set to reach for – so I am giving you a little sneaky peak at one of our new upcoming sets from the Birthday Memories Suite. It is sooooooo adorable!

Colour INKspiration #08 Sneak Peak from the upcoming Birthday Memories Suite by My Paper Oasis, Birthday Delivery, Stampin Up, Sepia Colouring, Vintage Card

Isn’t she gorgeous!  I used the masking technique for the addition of the flowers before lightly water colouring them with Delightful Dijon. I created the sepia effect by watercoloring around the image of the girl lightly with Soft Suede, then inside the image gradually building with small amounts of colour until I was happy with it.  As this is on Very Vanilla Cardstock, I did have to make sure that my aqua painter was not very wet or it would ruin the card.

The flowers were created with the Succulent Flower Dies (retiring item) simply sponged in Delightful Dijon, curling the tips under and then layered on each other.

I absolutely love the vintage feel of this card! I hope you do too. And I know you are going to love the entire Birthday Memories Suite!

But don’t stop here!!! We have an absolutely amazing array of stunning projects from our Design Team lined up to inspire you for this hop!  Get ready to be WOWED as you make your way around to everyone’s blogs!!!!!

CTC 122 – Falling in Love with So Detailed Thinlets!

Hi everyone and welcome back to another CASEIng the Catty Challenge.  This week is CTC 122 where we are focusing on the Falling in Love section of the Occasions Catalogue from pages 50 – 54.

There’s only a few pages to this section, but boy are there some lovely projects to CASE. I focused on this one ….

The pretty cluster of flowers caught my attention, set off with the gold leaf and the die.  I actually hadn’t paid a whole heap of attention to the stamp set until I saw those flowers – now I need it – but you all know how that goes! Lol.  I also didn’t want to make a card – but the idea of a scrapbook layout hit me (it doesn’t happen often – so when it does I make sure I act on it!)

So here is what I designed …

CTC 122 Falling in Love with So Detailed Thinlets by My Paper Oasis, Stampin' Up!, scrapbook page

CTC 122 Falling in Love with So Detailed Thinlets by My Paper Oasis, Stampin' Up!, scrapbook page

I used the flower from the Butterfly Basics stamp sets and just fussy cut a ‘few’ out to create the flower bunch.  I stamped them in Sahara Sand and the sponged them lightly with Blushing Bride ink.  I used the stunning Flower Die in the So Detailed Thinlets Dies instead of the heart one in the image. All teamed with the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper and a special touch of gold! I love the way it turned out – but my goodness – that photo makes me feel old! It seems like a lifetime ago!

Don’t forget to hop around and see everyone else’s creations for some extra inspiration, and then join in the fun by uploading your own project to the album CTC 122 on the Facebook Page right HERE!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Elizabeth Gross to see what she has created today!

Happy Crafting everyone!

Colour INKspiration 6 – CI06

Welcome to our next Colour INKspiration Challenge!  Your entries have amazed us so far! So much talent and creativity out there – it’s a joy to see, but makes it very difficult to vote!   Keep up the great work!  You can join the fun on our Facebook Group HERE.

We have a beautiful colour swatch for you all this week.  These colours work so well together.  We have Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Gold to work with. Even though the image says gold foil, it can be any gold you like.

There are some beautiful projects by the crew this week, so make sure you hop around to see them all, including from our guest designer – Kim Oliver. Welcome Kim!

I found these colours compliment each other so very nicely and had a bit of fun creating.

Colour INKspiration 06 by My Paper Oasis, stampin up colours with Flourishing Phrases

I thought today I would try my hand at water colouring my own background.  There was a similar navy striped paper in our Floral Boutique DSP, but the lines were fine and quite dark. I really like the more subtle water coloured lines.  They are super simple to create too – just pop some ink on your aqua painter and run it straight across your cardstock.  It’s really that simple.  I used our Shimmery White for this, because it holds the water so well and the subtle shimmer is just gorgeous!

I even splattered on some extra sparkle with gold glitter, by mixing a small amount of tombow with water, then flicking it across my card using an aqua painter.  I have a specific aqua painter for this job, because it does get glue in the brush.  Sprinkle your card with gold glitter and tap of the excess and leave to dry.  It creates a beautiful effect on cards.

Well I do hope you have enjoyed my creation this week. Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Monique to see what she has created this week!

I love colour challenges that take you out of your comfort zone and really get you thinking!  The challenge this time was no different!  I had to play with ideas in my head for a while before I finally sat down to stamp!

This week we are playing with the colours Delightful Dijon;  Elegant Eggplant; Whisper White and Crushed Curry.  What a colour palette to work with. These colours look stunning in the images above.  This is another colour selection that I would never have naturally put together, so it was fun to play with!  I built the idea of the card in my head well before I inked up a stamp, so was very happy when it came together!

Colour Inspiration#4 using Botanical Blooms by Mel Pagano from My Paper Oasis, Stampin Up, handmade card, stitched shape framelits

I created the stamped raised frame by Stamping on the white card front before cutting four of the frame outlines with the stitched shapes and Layering Square Framelits. I then adhered them together and popped them back in their original position.  I used the stamp off method for the spots and flowers, so the colours weren’t overpowering the entire card. I then decorated with a range of flowers from the Botanical Blooms Framelits.  That gorgeous sentiment is from the Designer Tee stamp set which you can redeem for FREE during Saleabration!

Here’s a little peek at the inside of my card!  I cannot get enough of those STITCHED SHAPE framelits!!!!!

CTC #116 – Botanical Builder Inspirational Frame

Hi everyone.  Welcome back to another week of CASEing the Catty.

I do hope you are enjoying the projects of the crew and being inspired to create. You may have come straight here today, or popped over from Kathryn’s blog.  Either way, I hope you hop around and see all the lovely projects and then play along!

This week we are using images from pages 20 – 31 of the Occasions Catalogue to create our projects.

This was a tough week because there is just so much goodness to choose from in those pages! I loved so much of it, but what caught my eye the most was that clock with the Oh so Succulent Suite.  Now I don’t have that suite (yet…) but I have a frame that I have been wanting to create for oh so long!

I was initially inspired by a picture I saw from Debbie Blake at www.nutshellcreations.com –  I used the same frame, but I wanted to use the Project Life cards to make an inspirational frame full of quotes to encourage me each day!

CTC #116 Hello Lovely Project Life Frame by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis, Botanical Builder Framelits, Stampin Up, Inspirational board

Now its very tricky to get a good picture of how good this frame looks with a little bit of decorating using the Botanical Builder Framelit Dies, but it sits on my wall directly opposite to wear I create and I really do read it every day.  I’m so excited to have finally finished it for this weeks CASEing the Catty Challenge.  Although just secretly…I think I may add a few more bits and pieces over time!

Colour INKspiration #3 – CI03

Welcome to our third Colour INKspiration Challenge! And WOW do we have a colour challenge for you this week!

You may have come from Elizabeth Gross and here stunning project, or you may be starting here. So hop around to get some inspiration and ideas for this unusual colour combo, and then pop in to our Facebook page and play along with your very own creation!

We are using 5 colours for this INKspiration challenge – Marina Mist; Peekaboo Peach; Soft Suede; Whisper White and Soft Sky.

A gorgeous, but I’m not going to lie, a bit of a tricky challenge.  I really enjoy colour challenges to stretch me out of my comfort colour zone, but I had to play with this one in my head for a few days before I decided what products I wanted to use for this combination. I was quite happy with the end result.

A simple watercolored background was the base for this card.  I used the Stamp Off technique to soften the colours of soft suede and peekaboo peach, with a full coloured flower behind the stamped off one.

I love removing the white background on the White Perfect Accents and then using them on watercolour backgrounds.  I also added the little ‘leaf’ shape pieces that I cut in vellum from the long border framelit to create a bit more interest on the background.

Don’t forget to keep hopping around to see what everyone else has created with this challenge! Next on the hop is Paula Dobson with her amazing project!

This week we have another gorgeous colour combination.  I love how images can be the inspiration for our colour choices – it inspires us to use colour combinations we may never have thought of!  This weeks colours combine Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky, Mint Macaron, Whisper White and Garden Green – and does that image remind you of anything! Just our succulent set in the Occasions Catalogue!

I don’t have the succulent set myself – but I had an upcoming class using the Jar of Love Bundle – so I thought these colours would be perfect to inspire my class project!

I used the Stamp Off method to create my flowers, giving the appearance of two different colours so they had more depth.  Its such a great method to use when you have a limited supply of colours – or only have certain colours to work with – like a colour challenge! The class ladies loved it too!

Hop on over to the amazing Simone Bartrum to see what gorgeous project she has created for this challenge by clicking on the image below!

Gorgeous Rose Garden Silhouette #GDP041

One of my lovely team members alerted me to this weeks Global Design Project Challenge.  It has been a while since I have participated in a GDP, but when she let me know what it was, I had to have a go!

Gdp041

This GDP challenge is a colour challenge – of sweet sugarplum, whisper white and night of navy! What a challenge!!!!  I love these type of challenges because they really get you thinking. As I mulled over the colours in my head a picture started forming of the card I wanted to create.  I love using the rose garden thinlets and have been wanting to create a silhouette from the petals for a while now – so I thought this challenge would be perfect for that!  So here’s what I came up with –

my paper oasis, timeless textures, rose garden thinlets, stampin up, handmade card, floral card

I created a soft background using the timeless textures stamp set, and stamped off my images before stamping onto the whisper white. I then adhered the rose by making sure that all the pieces were cut through properly, I placed a dot or two of tombow on the back of each petal piece and placed the thinlet directly onto the card, before gently rubbing each individual petal to attach it to the card.  By gently lifting off the thinlet, all the petal pieces remained in position. Easy!!! And very effective if I do say so myself! 😉  I also applied clear wink of stella over the rose petals, but its a bit hard to tell in the pic!

If you are in a bit of a slump, or even if you’re not – I really encourage you to participate in a few challenges to kickstart your engine! You can see all the GDP entries here.

Happy crafting

Mel xx
