Colour INKspiration 17

Hi everyone and welcome to Colour INKspiration 17!

Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month we get to play along to a gorgeous colour combination inspired from Pinterest Images.  This week we have such a bright and fun colour palette to work with!

The colours this week are Pool Party; Lemon Lime Twist; Tempting Turquoise and Flirty Flamingo!  They scream spring and summer to me, unfortunately in Melbourne there is very little sign of sun at all!

I was grateful for the bright cheery colours though this week.  It’s my niece’s birthday this week and I needed to make her a birthday card, so I combined this colour Inspiration with a tutorial from the amazing Bronwyn Eastley at addINKtive Designs to create my project.

I used Bronwyn’s This Little Piggy Slider Card tutorial for the base of my project and switched out the colours to suit this challenge, as well as using my gorgeous Magical Mermaid Stamp.

This card design is extra fun because it’s interactive.  You can actually move the mermaid along the card, so a bit of extra fun for my niece!  If you would like to make a card like this then just pop on over to the AddINKtive Designs Tutorial Shop where you can purchase the tutorial and create your own design 🙂

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Simone Bartrum and see what beautiful project she has for you all.

Happy Crafting!

Colour INKspiration 16 – Just Add Colour

It’s the second Wednesday of the month, so that means it’s time for another Colour INKspiration Challenge.

Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month the design team create projects using Colour Schemes inspired by Pinterest.  You can take the hop, see everyone’s projects and then play along by uploading your work of art on our Facebook Page HERE.

This week we have a very cool colour palette to play along to. Our colour selection is Whisper White; Dapper Denim; Sahara Sand and Basic Grey!

These are great masculine colours to play with to create cards just in time for Father’s Day here in Australia, but you might say I went in completely the opposite direction 🙂

As I mulled over the colours in my head, I thought about how pretty the blue and white would be to create the look of Wedgewood China pieces.  Then I had a lightbulb moment where I realised that our new Just Add Colour Speciality Designer Series Paper had some images of Teapots and cups, so I knew that is what I would use.  When thinking about incorporating the rest of the colours an image just evolved in my head about the look i wanted to achieve.  I have seen some stunning U-Fold cards and more recently a ‘Bench Fold Card’ by The Craft Spa – take a look at her work HERE. Here work is lovely, so I wanted to have a try at my own.

Colour INKspiration 15 - 3D Bench Card using Just Add Colour DSP by My Paper Oasis

My card doesn’t fold flat for posting, but I thought it would be lovely as a gift to welcome someone to their new home, or for Mother’s Day. And it was truly such a fun card to make once I had played around with some measurements!

I would have loved to have added a vase with flowers, but alas – I couldn’t make it work with the selected colours for this challenge.

I hope you enjoyed my project today.

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Jacque Williams and see her stunning project!

Happy Crafting!!!!

Colour INKspiration 15

Hi Everyone.  Welcome to our next Colour INKspiration Challenge – number 15 to be exact!

How does Colour INKspiration work?  I’m glad you asked!

We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand who, every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, create projects using inspired colour Combinations from pinterest.  It’s loads of fun and we LOVE you to play along.  So take the hop, be inspired, create your own work of art and then play along over in our Facebook Page!

This week’s colour challenge image is below:

Our palette this week is Elegant Eggplant; Bermuda Bay; Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party.

I was just a bit excited by this challenge as I don’t use Elegant Eggplant very much, and as much as I LOVE our new Lemon Lime Twist Colour – I REALLY struggle to use it in colour combinations.  So this challenge was a fun way to give me a stretch!  And just because I don’t use those colours very much – I really wanted them to be the feature of my card!

Colour INKspiration 15 featuring Lovely Inside and Out by Stampin Up with the new Lemon Lime Twist!

I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and splashed on some Lemon Lime Twist with my aqua painter, then followed that up with some touches of Elegant Eggplant wear the framelit would cut. Once that had dried, I cut out the framelit and trimmed the ‘friend’ out of the oval.  I cut the framelit a further 3 times in whisper white, trimmed all the ‘friends’, then layered them together with the Fine Tip Glue Pen, before covering the entire word with the fine tip glue for a glossy look.

The background was created by stamping the ‘raindrops’ in Pool Party on the backing piece of whisper white, tracing the outline of the framelit and then picking out a selection of Pool Party sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment pack and adhering them in place (a tip I saw on Jennifer McGuire’s video’s).  I really liked the idea instead of a shaker card, so you can permanently see the sequins in the background.  I popped a piece of window sheet behind the framelit cut out and adhered an Elegant Eggplant sentiment piece that I had cut with the Layering Oval Framelits to give me an outline.

Some more watercoloring on Shimmery White with Pool Party and Bermuda Bay before cutting with little flowers from the Blooming Heart Thinlets, helped finish off the overall look – with a good smothering of Wink of Stellar of course! Lol.

We can’t wait to see what you create with this combination!

Now it’s time to hop on over to see what Jackie has created

Happy Creating everyone!

Colour INKspiration 14 – Spinner Cards with A Little Wild

It feels great to be back for another Colour INKspiration Challenge!

You may have arrived from Jacque’s blog and her stunning project, or be starting right here, but make sure you hop the entire way around and see all the gorgeous projects created for you!

When you have finished, get creating and then play along and upload it directly to our Facebook group right HERE!

We have a beautiful colour palette for you to play with this week!

The Colours are :

Smokey Slate; Rich Razzleberry; Soft Sky and Night of Navy.

Spinner Cards

I have an upcoming class on Spinner Cards next week, so I thought this colour palette would be fun to play with to create one of the cards we will make in class.  So I used the A Little Wild Bundle as this set seems like it was almost created to make gorgeous spinner cards!

The Elephant was perfect for the use of the Smokey Slate – I even cut an extra head and layered it with the new mini dimensionals for bit more effect.  To give the background a bit more visual appeal, I used the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder.

I highly recommend using Fast Fuse or similar when adhering down the thread for the spinner, as you want to ensure it is stuck down firmly for lots of spinning action!

It just seemed fitting to turn it into a New Baby Card 🙂

Now it’s time to hop over to Bronwyn’s blog and see the amazing project she has created for you!

Colour INKspiration 12 – Crafting Forever

Hi everyone! I’m so glad you can join us for Colour INKspiration Challenge 12!

We have so loved seeing all your entries into the challenges every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month over at our Facebook Page!  So please, keep them coming!

This week we have a HUGE colour palette for you to play with!

I told you it was a HUGE! Lol.

This week – choose at least 4 of the colours to play with from the selection of:

Whisper White; Night of Navy; Elegant Eggplant; Cherry Cobbler; Flirty Flamingo; Dapper Denim; Smokey Slate and Peekaboo Peach.

As always, Neutrals and metallics are allowed in your creations too 🙂

As there were lots of colours to choose from this week, I thought it would be the perfect time to create an idea I have had playing around in my head for the longest time, using the brand new Crafting Forever Stamp Set.

I have had the idea to create that little pot in 3D and stuff it full of the craft equipment in the set – just like what most of us have on our own desks – just like mine….

So thats what I set about doing.  Creating a little pot just like I hang from my raskcog trolley! I managed to use every colour in the palette apart from Elegant Eggplant and I was pretty happy with how this card turned out.

And that sentiment…well let’s just say it definitely suits me! Lol. I would much prefer to be hiding away in my craft room, creating,  than slaving over housework!

The card is a step card fold. I found a very easy tutorial to follow over at Splitcoast Stampers.

Now its time to pop on over to the lovely Monique and see what she has created for you all!

Happy Crafting

Colour INKspiration 11

Hi everyone! Are you ready for another Colour Challenge???  Well get ready, because we are back for Colour INKspiration #11.

Play along every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month by using the given colours to create your own work of art, and then upload it to our Facebook Group right HERE.

The colours we get to work with for this challenge are Early Espresso, Marina Mist and Soft Suede.

Marina Mist is one of those tricky colours for me – a bit like a love / hate relationship. I love it – it hates me when it comes to using it! Lol.It’s one of those colours that I really struggle with for some reason.

Anyway, I was very grateful that my new order arrived in time for me to have a play with some of our lovely new goodies! And I combined those with some old favourites.  I have been itching to use the new embossing paste, so one way or another it was going to end up on my card.  I did get the decorative masks to go with it, but I really wanted to create my own with one of our lovely dies from the Rose Garden Thinlets.  So I set to work…

Colour INKspiration #11 by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis using Rose Garden Framelits and Embossing Paste by Stampin' Up!

It’s a bit hard to see on the image, but I have the brand new Sheet Music Stamped lightly in Soft Suede in the background, and then used Timeless Textures to add a more vintage feel, with the flourish embossed with copper.

I used the large rose image from the Rose wonder Dies as a mask, trimmed of the leaves and secured the image in place with a bit of washi tape, before adding a few drops of Marina Mist Ink to a small amount of embossing paste and carefully spreading it over the mask.  Carefully remove the mask whilst the paste is still wet and there you have it!

Have you noticed the little curls to the copper trim bow – it is so easy to do – just wrap it around a toothpick or similar and it holds the shape!  Unfortunately I had to mask a little boo boo with the sentiment –  the card wasn’t going to have one initially, but I ended up with a blue splodge from the stampin write marker when flicking Marina Mist specks over the card front!

Now it’s time to pop on over to Monique’s blog and see how she has used this colour combo!

Colour INKspiration #10

A big hello to you all!

Welcome back to another Colour INKspiration!  You may be popping over from the lovely Rebecca Scurr, or starting right here! So have a hop around and then come back and create your own masterpiece! We are loving seeing your fabulous creations on our Facebook page – so keep them rolling in!

I am glad to be back this week after missing the last one.  Going to Picture to Page in Pakenham and then having a Biggest Morning Tea Event really kept me very busy!  And as Colour Challenges are my favourite kinds of challenges, I was a bit sad to have missed it!!!

But this week’s Challenge I found just a little bit tougher than usual!

Our colour palette this week are gorgeous Autumn / Wintery Hues with Cajun Craze (yes, dust it off!), Island Indigo, Smokey Slate and Delightful Dijon (retiring colour).

So I set to work creating some Autumn / Wintery cards to set these colours off.  My first card I had a bit of fun playing around with the Shaving Foam Technique again.  It’s a great way to mix a few co-ordinating colours and make those stunning backgrounds.  You can watch my video over at my You Tube Channel HERE to learn how to create your own.

Colour INKspiration #10 by Mel pagano at My Paper Oasis using Colourful Seasons Bundle

I mixed Island Indigo, Cajun Craze and Smokey Slate re inkers into my shaving foam for the background.  I love all the leaves falling from trees in Autumn.  The bright reds and soft yellows!  So I stamped the leaves in Cajun Craze and Delightful Dijon.  I lightly sponged the tips of the Delightful Dijon leaves in Cajun Craze to give them an Autumn feel.  I also used the matching framelits to cut a leaf in Delightful Dijon, and then sponged the edges in Cajun Craze, and I then topped this one off with some our fine tip glue pen to really make it stand out!

Colour Inkspiration #10 by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis using Stampin' Up!s Colourful Seasons Bundle

The sentiments from the Colourful Seasons Stamp set are just stunning!

I then went on to have a bit more of a play, with a card type I don’t normally do, but I thought I would show you the ned result anyway…because sometimes its all about the learning as we play!

Colour Inkspiration #10 by Mel pagano at My Paper Oasis using Stampin' Up!s Beautiful You and Sheltering Tree

I would love to know what you think, so feel free to leave a comment to let me know!

I do hope you are going to make some time to be inspired and play along too 🙂

Now it’s time to hop on over to Nicole Wilson and see what she has created to inspire you all!

Happy Creating everyone!

Colour INKspiration 08

Hello and welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge #08!

At Colour INKspiration, we play and create using a different colour palette every fortnight.  It’s a fantastic way to stretch your creativity and I encourage you to join in.  We have a dedicated Facebook group where you can upload your own creation to right HERE.

I missed the last challenge, so I was determined NOT to miss this one! And boy is this a challenging one!

I love this picture but I must admit, I was a bit daunted initially with the colour palette – Delightful Dijon; Tip Top Taupe; Soft Suede; Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.  But after a little pondering I realised what it reminded me of … the colours of a sepia photo …you know the ones … with just a hint of colour to highlight a certain area.

Once I had that idea in my head I knew exactly which stamp set to reach for – so I am giving you a little sneaky peak at one of our new upcoming sets from the Birthday Memories Suite. It is sooooooo adorable!

Colour INKspiration #08 Sneak Peak from the upcoming Birthday Memories Suite by My Paper Oasis, Birthday Delivery, Stampin Up, Sepia Colouring, Vintage Card

Isn’t she gorgeous!  I used the masking technique for the addition of the flowers before lightly water colouring them with Delightful Dijon. I created the sepia effect by watercoloring around the image of the girl lightly with Soft Suede, then inside the image gradually building with small amounts of colour until I was happy with it.  As this is on Very Vanilla Cardstock, I did have to make sure that my aqua painter was not very wet or it would ruin the card.

The flowers were created with the Succulent Flower Dies (retiring item) simply sponged in Delightful Dijon, curling the tips under and then layered on each other.

Colour INKspiration #08 Sneak Peak from the upcoming Birthday Memories Suite by My Paper Oasis, Birthday Delivery, Stampin Up, Sepia Colouring, Vintage Card

I absolutely love the vintage feel of this card! I hope you do too. And I know you are going to love the entire Birthday Memories Suite!

But don’t stop here!!! We have an absolutely amazing array of stunning projects from our Design Team lined up to inspire you for this hop!  Get ready to be WOWED as you make your way around to everyone’s blogs!!!!!

Colour INKspiration 6 – CI06

Welcome to our next Colour INKspiration Challenge!  Your entries have amazed us so far! So much talent and creativity out there – it’s a joy to see, but makes it very difficult to vote!   Keep up the great work!  You can join the fun on our Facebook Group HERE.

We have a beautiful colour swatch for you all this week.  These colours work so well together.  We have Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Gold to work with. Even though the image says gold foil, it can be any gold you like.

There are some beautiful projects by the crew this week, so make sure you hop around to see them all, including from our guest designer – Kim Oliver. Welcome Kim!

I found these colours compliment each other so very nicely and had a bit of fun creating.

Colour INKspiration 06 by My Paper Oasis, stampin up colours with Flourishing Phrases

I thought today I would try my hand at water colouring my own background.  There was a similar navy striped paper in our Floral Boutique DSP, but the lines were fine and quite dark. I really like the more subtle water coloured lines.  They are super simple to create too – just pop some ink on your aqua painter and run it straight across your cardstock.  It’s really that simple.  I used our Shimmery White for this, because it holds the water so well and the subtle shimmer is just gorgeous!

I even splattered on some extra sparkle with gold glitter, by mixing a small amount of tombow with water, then flicking it across my card using an aqua painter.  I have a specific aqua painter for this job, because it does get glue in the brush.  Sprinkle your card with gold glitter and tap of the excess and leave to dry.  It creates a beautiful effect on cards.

Well I do hope you have enjoyed my creation this week. Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Monique to see what she has created this week!

Colour INKspiration 5 – CI05

Hi everyone!  Glad you could join us for another Colour INKspiration this week!  Can you believe two weeks have flown by already!

The crew are really enjoying everyone’s enthusiasm and participation, so keep them coming!

This weeks colour palette is much more suited to colours I would normally ‘go to’ when creating. Soft Sky, Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand! Don’t forget you can use neutrals and metallics too for your creation!

A beautiful pastel palette to work with, that took my heart straight to quilting.  Yes, I love to quilt and these images and colours took me straight there.  The inspiration started to flow – I wanted to make a quilt – what kind of quilt??? – ohhhhhhhh a drunkard’s path quilt – and then it occurred to me that the stitched framelits would give the impression of stitch lines! Woohoo – idea sorted!

AND THEN……

the realisation that our Falling in Love Designer Series Paper (available in the current occasions catalogue) has the EXACT colour palette.  YES! So the creating began….

Colour INKspiration 05 Quilt Inspired Card by My Paper Oasis, stampin up, drunkards path quilt design

There was a lot of cutting on the bigshot for this one, but the end result was well worth it. I had a lot of fun making this ‘mini paper quilt’.

I used the smallest stitched square and circle framelits.  To make sure the circles were cut in exactly the same spot each time, i had to make a small mark on the circle framelit where it intersected with the stitched lines from the square. That ensured the quarter circle nested nicely into the square shape each time.

A few embellishments, some vanilla ribbon and the thread from the blushing bride sequins and it was done!

I hope you enjoyed the project! Now its time to hop over to Elizabeth’s blog to see what she has created for this challenge!

Don’t forget to play along with the challenge by uploading your design to our Facebook Page HERE.

And remember – MARCH is the final month of Saleabration! I hope you have been taking advantage of the FREE products on offer! If you live in Australia you can order your supplies via my Shop Now button 🙂
