Love You Lots New Catalogue!

Gorgeous Paper Gerbera’s

I was feeling a little low last week, so I did a couple of things to cheer myself up a bit.

First – I went for coffee and cake – by myself! I was out and about and thought ‘why not!’ So I spilt myself with a mocha and a lovely slice of chocolate roulade. I wish I had taken a picture for you all. Then I sat back, scrolled through a bit of Facebook and enjoyed the serenity!

As I continued my shopping I came across a florist and found these beautiful gerbera’s. The colour was enough to really brighten my day!

How gorgeous are they!!

So these beautiful flowers inspired me to create some of my own Gerbera happiness with my Stampin Up! supplies. I have made paper gerbera’s before, but these ones were a little smaller as I used the soon to be retired 7/8″ scallop circle punch to make the flower. Here it is –

I actually started with daffodil delight cardstock and then used a sponge dauber with pumpkin pie ink to colour the centre of each piece. I then snipped down to the centre of each flower in each ‘scallop’ and rolled each individual petal around a tooth pick to curve them – be warned its not for the feint hearted – your fingers definitely cramp up! And there were 3 layers of this one!

I did the same procedure with the very tiny flower from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack from the 2013-2014 catalogue (a long time ago I know, but I find it hard to get rid of ANY retired items :-/) You will need two layers for this one. And then a little circle from the cupcake punch for the centre. I glue all my pieces together with tombow and then poked some holes for effect in the centre circle using what I fondly refer to as the ‘pokey tool’, but is in fact the paper piercing tool!

The vase and sentiment are from the gorgeous hostess set ‘Floral Wings’ and of course the wonderful Trio Corner Punch (also retiring) for the corners! And what is a petal without a sparkle of wink of stella to make it dazzle right!

This card is being gifted to a special friend ‘just because’ I can! I LOVE this job!

2015-2016 Annual Retirement Lists

Honeycomb Happiness Easter Card in a Box

Well it’s March already! That means there is just under one month left to get all the Sale-a-bration goodies you are after! LESS than ONE MONTH! Arrgghhhhhhhh….do you have all of yours yet???

One of my favourites would have to be Honeycomb Happiness. It is soon cute and easy to use – especially when you combine it with matching designer paper, such as the Birthday Bouquet as I have done in the past.

This project was a little different. I was requested to make a couple of Easter Cards. Now I LOVE easter – i am a self confessed chocoholic! But I don’t do very many Easter cards…..AT ALL! But with the limited Easter Sets we have this year, I knew that little chicken from the Honeycomb Happiness set was going to be perfect. And because it fit the brief for the SUO challenge 143 for March, I thought I would play along with that too! It’s the first time I have played along with the SUO challenges, but those of you who visit regularly know that I quite like a challenge! You can find all the info for the SUO challenges here.

And I love a card in a box for a bit of a fancy card…. so here is what I came up with…..

How cute is that! I LOVE how it turned out. I started by picking a nice floral piece of DSP from the wildflower fields DSP (another Sale-a-bration freebie with a $90 spend). I then build my box and colours around that. That’s one of the best things about Stampin Up! Everything coordinates! I featured colours Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey when building this card.

I used the Sprinkles of Life set for my little easter basket – and can you guess how I made the little easter eggs???? I used the little spoon from our new Cups and Kettles Framelits Dies. I just trimmed off the spoon tip and stamped with some mini stamps (the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Stamp set is perfect for this, but you could use any little stamps you have!) And to save me colouring my chicken, I just stamped him directly onto some Hello Honey Cardstock. Too Easy!!!!

Saleabration Halfway Happiness Blog Hop

Today I am sharing with you a couple of ‘Magical’ Cards that we have been making in class this week using the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set. These type of cards are referred to magical slider cards. You start with a pain black image, but as you pull out the slider, the image magically becomes coloured.

Isn’t the little chicken in this set just so very adorable! It looks like a normal – albeit a bit boring – card so far – but just wait for the magic…..

It’s hard to put into a photo as you really see the magic happen as you pull the slider. I used one of the sheets from the Wildflower Fields DSP (another FREE sale-a-bration item) and simply randomly coloured a few of those spots with colours from the subtle collection.

Here is another example using the ice cream and the Birthday Bouquet DSP.

The Honeycomb Happiness stamp set is perfect for this type of card as it has lovely ‘open’ images that allow you to add a lot of colour, making it very effective! Would you like to make one of your very own??? Jump on over to my Youtube video here.

Sprinkles of Life Thank You Tree

I had a request from a lovely customer of mine to make a Thank You card. She was looking at the photos on my Facebook page and saw one that Sara had demonstrated at convention last year, using the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set. And yes, that’s the one she wanted!

I love to please my customers so I set about creating it for her. I was thrilled with the way it came out.

I didn’t have quite all the elements that Sara had used. I was missing the natural elements ‘thanks’ or the speciality DSP she used, but I had some suitable alternatives!

I used my Hardwood stamp and smokey slate ink for the woodgrain background and my Hello You thinlets Dies for the thanks. To make it thicker and shiny I simply cut three of the ‘thanks’ and adhered them on top of each other. I then used crystal effects to cover the stack and let dry on my silicone mat – nothing sticks to that sucker! Its a great technique to jazz up dies of any kind!

So much fun with Balloon Celebration Bundle

I cannot believe just how versatile this set is! I have been creating so many cards with it – and it is soon very easy to do with this set.

Here is a couple of ideas for you…

This one is a quick and simple one to get you started, and varied just slightly from the catalogue using Pool Party, So saffron and Blushing Bride Inks.

This next one is one of my favourites. I think it’s so soft and could be used for birthday, thank you, baby or sympathy card…Oh the versatility!

Now, I am not sure if you have noticed, but there is the cutest little whimsy ‘fairy’ petal in this set – in two sizes. When you heat emboss it in white, it gives the softest, delicate look – I LOVE it! So I CASEd the other card in the catalogue to begin with…

Can you see those ink spots in the background? Some are using ink colours and an aqua painter, others are using our incredible new Gold wink of stellar pens! I liked this one so much that I repeated the same, but using my favourite water colour technique…

Watercolour Wishes Card Kit

It seems I have been going mad for kit projects lately – and I HAVE!

I have kits super refreshing after such a busy year, to allow mw to create, without having to ‘think’ too much!

I took my Watercolour Wishes card kit away on a short trip with me as I knew i wouldn’t have to take anything else other than adhesive. This kit truly has absolutely EVERYTHING you need to create 20 beautiful cards, in a number of different sizes. It would be a great gift for the crafter who is just beginning or has very little supplies, as well as the experienced crafter.

The kit includes everything to decorate the 20 cards, including an exclusive stamp set, a mini clear block, two coordinating ink spots, dimensionals, embellishments, card bases and envelopes. EVERYTHING! All packaged in a beautiful presentation box.

I have used sentiments specific to my needs – for my wonderful customers who place online orders through me – but the stamp set that comes with the kit has a great variety of sentiments – 10 in all!

There was also lots of embellishments left over – so I added more bling to my cards!

Sky is the Limit with Saleabration

When I first saw this set I knew it was going to be top of my list to get! And considering it is a limited edition Saleabration item – only available until February 15 – I didn’t waste time.

I just love how versatile this set is.

I have a lot of birthdays coming up – but my Grandad turns 92 at the end of January – thats quite an achievement, so it deserves something a little bit special! I wanted to make something with a vintage feel and I knew this set would be perfect. Of course I had to combine it with the Large number dies in gold foil paper to make it really stand out!

I used paper from the Going Places Designer Paper Stack. Initially I was going to tear the edges to give it a more vintage feel – but I decided to use a match and burn parts of the paper like we used to for school projects! I then inked the edges in Soft Suede and sponged lightly over the paper.

Its a bit hard to tell, but that aeroplane is actually popping off the page on one side – giving it the appearance of flying off the card. I used a 1″ x 1/4″ strip, scored at 1/4″ each end and folded in a ‘z’ and adhered it between two cut out stamped images of the plane. I then adhered the other side with a dab of tombow. That way, the plane will still sit flat for postage.

The sentiment and stamped map of the world behind the plane, come from the Going Global stamp set. The world image is stamped directly onto a piece of designer paper from the Going Places Paper stack.

And don’t forget to decorate the inside of your cards too!
