CTC 119 – Designer Tee

Welcome everyone.  I hope you are enjoying your long weekend in Victoria!

It’s time again for another CASEing the Catty Challenge!  This week we are CASEing anything in the saleabration catalogue from pages 16 – 19!  Remember when we CASE we don’t need the exact sets as displayed – you can take inspiration from the colours, layouts, stamps or images 🙂

You may have come from Elizabeth’s blog or be starting right here! Once you have popped around the all the blog posts, don’t forget to play along and upload your creation to our Facebook Page – no blog post necessary!

I’m taking my inspiration today from the image on page 18 of the catalogue – The pink card on the right hand side –

I love the sentiments in the designer tee stamp set and the little t-shirt framelits!

I had to change the colours up a bit as I have just received my FREE Glimmer Paper Assortment Packs (no, I couldn’t just have ONE!) and I wanted to use some of that glimmer! It is SUPER sparkly!

CTC119 using Designer Tee by My Paper Oasis, Stampin Up, Custom Tee, Watwrcolouring, Mel PaganoYou all know I love a bit of watercoloring and I gave my t-shirt a bit of extra love to make it smooth and shiny, by pressing it into my versamark ink pad and then sprinkle with clear embossing powder.  Do it a couple of times for a smooth, glossy finish!

I used the same method to create these gorgeous dangles for my Product Play Day at the release of the Occasions Catalogue in January – only for these ones I heat embossed a back and front and adhered them together to make it super strong! Mine hangs on my scissors 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my projects – now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Rachel to see what she has created this week!

Colour INKspiration #3 – CI03

Welcome to our third Colour INKspiration Challenge! And WOW do we have a colour challenge for you this week!

You may have come from Elizabeth Gross and here stunning project, or you may be starting here. So hop around to get some inspiration and ideas for this unusual colour combo, and then pop in to our Facebook page and play along with your very own creation!

We are using 5 colours for this INKspiration challenge – Marina Mist; Peekaboo Peach; Soft Suede; Whisper White and Soft Sky.

A gorgeous, but I’m not going to lie, a bit of a tricky challenge.  I really enjoy colour challenges to stretch me out of my comfort colour zone, but I had to play with this one in my head for a few days before I decided what products I wanted to use for this combination. I was quite happy with the end result.

A simple watercolored background was the base for this card.  I used the Stamp Off technique to soften the colours of soft suede and peekaboo peach, with a full coloured flower behind the stamped off one.

I love removing the white background on the White Perfect Accents and then using them on watercolour backgrounds.  I also added the little ‘leaf’ shape pieces that I cut in vellum from the long border framelit to create a bit more interest on the background.

Don’t forget to keep hopping around to see what everyone else has created with this challenge! Next on the hop is Paula Dobson with her amazing project!

CTC112 – Cupcakes and Carousels

We are back this week for another CASEing the Catty Challenge!  We have had some fantastic entries over on our Facebook Page – so keep them coming – we are so glad you are enjoying the new way to play along!  This week for our challenge we are taking inspiration form the Cupcakes and Carousel section of the Occasions Catalogue on pages 8 – 13.  Remember, you don’t have to have any of the stamps sets to play along, you just use the images in the catalogue to spur your creativity! It may be the paper, colours used, images, designs or layouts that you use to inspire you to create your project!

I cannot tell you how much I love this suite (I know – I love just about all of them! Lol) – but this suite makes it easy! And it has a real vintage feel about it! I love the DSP paper stack (I just wish they were 12×12!), the colours that are used in the suite and the stamp sets! It made it so easy to create my projects…and I guess I took inspiration from it all!

The one thing that really caught my eye in this picture were the Rosette’s . I used to love making these, but had forgotten about them – until now! So I knew I had to use them for this challenge.

I set about creating a scrapbook page using the Carousel Birthday Set – it came together so quickly for me, which surprised me, because I am not a natural scrapbooker!  It just goes to show…when you have the right products its easier to create!

Do you see the stamped Carousel Horse Image on my page?  I took inspiration from one of the actual papers in the DSP stack- this one –

I love the way they looked, so I made my own.  Its easy to do – just stamp your image in the lightest base colour (in this case peekaboo peach) and the ink up other ares using a sponge dauber with your stronger colours (calypso coral and early espresso). See – easy and SUPER effective!

I didn’t stop there with this suite either.  I decided to have a bit of fun and made this 3D carousel, well, just because I could, using a large rosette for the roof! And if you are wondering how the centre is made – it’s from our empty ribbon spools – I never throw them out! Lol.

I hope you enjoyed these creations this week!  This suite is LOADS of fun, so I encourage you to have a play and join the challenge.  Simply upload a picture of your creation to the album on the Facebook page HERE.

Now it’s time to hop on over to the wonderful Julia Quinn and see what she has created for you all!

CTC111 – Saleabration of Hey Chick

Its time for another CTC challenge and this time, we can CASE anything from the Saleabration Catalogue! How fun is that… there was sooooo much to choose from but I knew exactly where to start!

From my first sneaky peak of the Saleabration Catalogue at On Stage I knew that I had to have the Hey Chick Stamp set.  Those chickens are so darned cute I couldn’t help myself.  It was the first Saleabration set I added to my order.  Apart from the chicken with the crazy hairdo, my other favourite was they way the chicken had been coloured on page 17 –

She is so bright and colourful and not really what you expect your chicken to be! So I just had to put her on a card! So on she went – Ready in time for my new product play day this week, so others can make her too!

I love how our stitched Framelits really set off images! And the great news is – they will be back in stock and ready to order from the 16th of January! The cool chicken wire background was created using the new hexagons dynamic embossing folder.  Simply pat your ink on the raised edges, lay your card stock over the top and rub gently with your bone folder or sponge brayer and voila…instant background from any embossing folder! And it coordinates perfectly with our little chickens!

Hope you like her!  Now pop on over to Julia Quinn’s blog to see what she has created for us this week!

And don’t forget – you can play along too on our Facebook Page by clicking HERE!

We have a fantastic colour challenge this week to get you started! Full of pretty pastels! Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise and Peekaboo Peach!  Pick at least three – or up to all six! Neutrals are welcome – black, white, vanilla, crumb cake, kraft and sahara sand!

What a gorgeous colour palette to begin playing with!

I initially started by making a watercolour wash on some shimmery white to mimic the sky, using tempting turquoise, so saffron and blushing bride, which I planned to pair with our new Lift Me Up Bundle. But once I had it completed I instantly went back to my childhood – enjoying a cone with lovely gelato ice-cream flavours! You know…the kind you don’t seem to be able to find anymore!  Well, lucky for me Saleabration has the perfect set for me to use! Yep, out came Tasty Trucks to create my gelato heaven!

I gave the truck a light wash of mint macaron and sweet sugarplum and then cut out the shape and windows before ‘colouring’ it with our fine tip glue pen to give it a glossy finish. I also finished off the ice creams with 2 coats of the fine tip glue pen to give them a bit of lift and shine!  The sentiment was from the Suite Sentiments set and was perfect for my gelato card finished off with Copper Embossing powder!

Don’t forget – you can get your very own Tasty Trucks Set with any purchase over $90 whilst Saleabration is on! Just use my handy ‘Shop Now’ button to get your supplies.

I hoped you liked my creation! Continue on to Kathryn’s blog to see her use of the colour challenge! And don’t forget to join the challenge yourself over on our Facebook group!

Merry Mice Christmas Bauble Card

Hi everyone!

I am a bit excited to share with you today another trick I learnt at on stage using Stampin Up’s Fine Tip Glue Pen! In my last post I mentioned that it dries faster than dimensional magic, but did you know it can be used like dimensional magic! Neither did I! So, on my Stamp It Sunday Facebook Live Video this week, I set about to show you how it was done!

I absolutely love the shimmery christmas bauble effect – if I do say so myself!

Making Baubles with Merry Mice and the Fine Tip Glue Pen by My Paper Oasis, Stampin Up, Christmas Cards, Christmas Bauble, Christmas Card

How cute are the mice out of that set! I held off getting it for a while – but with the brilliant discount until the end of November I just couldn’t resist any longer!  And they are super simple to colour with a little bit of ink and an aqua painter!

Here’s a closer look at that effect!

Making Baubles with Merry Mice and the Fine Tip Glue Pen by My Paper Oasis, Stampin Up, Christmas Cards, Christmas Bauble, Christmas Card

Isn’t it pretty! And it doesn’t dry sticky AT ALL! I can see so many new projects happening with this now I have had a play – so be warned – you may see a few more tips and tricks with the Fine Tip Glue Pen in the future!

You can watch my video over at You Tube at my channel –  My Paper Oasis – don’t forget to subscribe!

And here are all the measurements so you can make your very own!

Card Base – Night of Navy Cardstock cut on short side at 4 1/8″

Gold Foil Piece – 5 1/4″ x 3 5/8″

Shimmery White Cardstock – 5′ x 3 3/8″

Hope and Sunshine Wishes #GDP045

So today I decided I had to play along in another Global Design Project challenge.  Guess what….it’s another colour challenge! I’m not sure whether these are the kinds I like the best, or they just happen to be the challenges when I have time to play along!  In any case they are super fun! You can always hop over and see the latest challenge here.

GDP045_Colour_Challenge

This weeks colour challenge is using basic black, smokey slate and melon mambo! A perfect challenge for utilising our Pop of Pink designer paper – but I chose not too!

I decided to pull out my new Sunshine Wishes Thinlets and play with those instead! When creating this card, I was thinking about friends that suffer anxiety, depression or are going through a difficult time.  So I went about creating a watercolored background of smokey slate.  I knew I wanted the flower to be pink and bright and bring that feeling of hope amidst the dark times – so I was delighted when I saw the thinlets had the word ‘Hope’ (no I hadn’t noticed it before!)

Card of Hope with Sunshine Wishes Thinlets for the GDP045 challenge by My Paper Oasis

I used our Shimmery White cardstock to for a bit of extra sparkle, and it holds the watercoloring so well!  I cut my flower from shimmery white too, and the plopped some melon mambo reinker on a clear block and mixed it with water using my aqua painter, before applying it to my flower.  I then cut two more flowers in melon mambo cardstock and adhered them all together with our fine tip glue pen.  I then used my aqua painter to splash fine spots of ink over the card base too.  And yes, I made that butterfly from our silver metallic thread by wrapping it into position directly onto a glued – not for the feint hearted I can tell you! I then popped a couple of our white perfect accents on the card with glue after removing the white backing.

I think I need to send this off to someone quite special now!!!  I hope you like it and consider playing along too!

ESAD 2016 Occasions & Sale-a-bration Blog Hop

OCC & SAB 2016 Blog Hop Header

Welcome to the ESAD 2016 Blog Hop featuring items from the new Occasions Catalogue ‘Handmade from the Heart’ and the 2016 Sale-a-bration Catalogue. You may have hopped here from Nicole Wilson, or you may be starting here.  I hope you enjoy the projects we have all created for you!

OCC & SAB 2016 Blog Hop ESAD Info

I had lots of fun creating for this blog hop. I am IN LOVE with just about everything in the new Occasions Catalogue!

Water colouring is BIG at the moment and fun to create as you never get the same effect twice.  I love it.  I had a special card to make for my niece’s 16th birthday – so I set to work creating a card that looked a bit special using some of our new products in our Handmade from the Heart Catalogue.

my paper oasis, stampin up, watercolouring technique, ESAD, botanical blooms, number of years

I find water colouring directly onto card difficult. So my favourite technique for watercoloring is by using reinkers and dropping them onto my largest clear block. I add a drop or two of water from my aqua painter and swirl it around on my block. I then add more colours as I desire until I am satisfied.  I then pick the block up and tilt it slightly from side to side (this makes the colours run a little) and then stamp it on to my paper.  You will need drying time with this method, or dry with the heat tool.

I used pool party, blushing bride and watermelon wonder for this card as I was originally going to combine it with the Birthday Bouquet DSP.  But I had a bit more fun with the watercoloring by dropping more ink onto the card and using a straw to blow the ink around – like what we used to do in art in primary school. It was a bit of fun!

I then splattered the card base with some gold glitter, framed it with the largest scallop square framelit, added our newest ribbons and cut the numbers from the Number of Years framelits (loving these!). I stamped and gold embossed the sentiment ‘Dream Big’ from the ‘Enjoy the LittleThings’ Stamp set and cut out the ‘dream’.

Here’s a close up for you –

And don’t forget the inside of the card! I added a smaller piece of the watercoloring to the inside of the card too!

I hope you enjoyed this project.  I would love to hear what you think, so please leave a comment for me 🙂
