Jolly Friends and the Fine Tip Glue Pen!

I eluded to a cool trick on my Facebook page last week that I had learnt at Stampin’ Up!s On Stage event this year.  I put up two images of the Santa from the Jolly Friends Bundle to see if people could Spot the Difference,  and asked people to vote on their favourite and tell me why.

Here are the two images I showed…

Can you spy the difference?

Apart from the darker green background and the gold ribbon?

Does this help a bit more?

Can you see just how thick and glossy that beard and ruffle are???? And its created with something I just hadn’t thought about using until I saw something at on stage.  It was one of those ‘aha’ moments.

I have ‘coloured’ the beard and ruffle with our Fine Tip Glue Pen and then sprinkled with dazzling details glitter and let it dry.  That glue dry SO fast in contrast to dimensional magic or similar.  We made these in class.  The ladies made the santa first and by the time they had made the card – he was bone dry!  It’s wonderful I tell you! And opened up a world of possibilities for me!  I am looking forward to playing a bit more with this technique!

So I encourage you to go ahead…have a play and make your santa all bushy like he is supposed to be!

Gift Bag Punch Board – bags for any occasion!

Hi everyone,

Today I wanted to pop by and show you just how easy it is to use our Gift Bag Punch Board to create bags for any and all occasions.

The Gift Bag Punch Board is one of those tools that I have found I cannot live without.  It has helped me out on many occasions when stuck for a quick packaging idea.  They make great party favour bags, bags for jewellery, makeup, lollies, chocolates, little thank you gifts, christmas gifts…..you get the idea! I have even made minion party bags using this tool where the kids for the party decorated their own bag as a minion before filling it up with goodies to take home! It was a HUGE hit!

And one of my favourite things to do when I can, is making a matching gift bag and card! Such a cute idea.  And imaging, you can create personalised cards and bags that suit the individual! Its all in the decorating and paper choice!

Here was one I created for my video – because I love the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set and my daughter LOVES flamingos, so I know it will come in handy shortly for a little gift of makeup, nail polish or jewellery!

Of course there are lots of other ideas you can create, not to mention all sorts of sizes! The possibilities are endless.

You can even create boxes with this tool by omitting to score the 3 lines to create your side fold. Instant box!

You don’t have to punch holes to thread ribbons. You can close the bags using any fancy clips or pegs you may have on hand.

You can even create a flap to fold over on your bag like this one.

Take a look at my Youtube video to see how to create a fast and simple gift bag at My Paper Oasis.

Here’s how you cut your bag to create that flap.

  1. Score your card stock as normal.
  2. Turn your cardstock / DSP so the straight edge is now against the punch on the board. Move the card stock/ DSP edge along the board until your large scored area that is along the right hand edge of your card stock / DSP is under the punch, with the edge of the cardstock / paper in line with the punch point on the board.  Punch the corner.
  3. Move the cardstock / DSP along to the next score line and punch and then score along the horizontal line.
  4. then move the rest of the cardstock / DSP along the punch board just scoring along the horizontal line. Refer to image 1.
  5. Then trim along the score line up to the punch mark. Refer to image 2.
  6. Fold and adhere as normal.
  7. You just need to make sure when creating this type of bag, that you allow an extra 1 1/2 inches in length for your bag for the top fold too.

Hi everyone!

I am back from my Stamp It Sunday live video broadcast! I am having so much fun doing these – I hope you are enjoying them as much as I do!

This week we took a look at making quick and simple window cards using our Stampin Up Designer Papers and a simple stamp or two! So easy everyone! I would love you to play along and create a card or two and pop the pictures in the comments!

Here’s what I created this week –

Quick Window Card with video tutorial by My Paper Oasis using Grateful Bunch from Stampin Up; Designer Paper; Blooms and Bliss; Female Card; Birthday Card; Thank you card

This card features our Blooms and Bliss Designer Paper and our Grateful Bunch stamp and coordinating punch.  I love this stamp and punch set as you get three flowers from one stamp and punch. So easy!

By using the Designer Paper and creating a small focal point, you create stunning cards with minimal effort.  These cards are a fantastic way to build your stash or make a lot of one design – such as Christmas cards.

Here’s one for the boys!

Fairy Celebration Toadstool Shaker Card

I’ve got to tell you – this card was soooooo much fun to make!

I had the idea in my head for quiet a while, and when I finally got around to putting in on paper, I was pretty pleased with the result!  It was a bit fiddly and I had to make a few adjustments along the way, but I got there in the end.

Creating a Magical fairy toadstool with an opening door shaker card with My Paper Oasis, fairy celebration, fairy card, magical, stampin up.

For a fairy card, I decided I wanted something a little ‘magical’.  Just a bit special and unlike other cards.  Our gorgeous Fairy Celebration made the ‘fairy’ part simple.  The toadstool was simply made with the door from our In this World stamp set, and the top was cut using our older circle framelits with a smaller circle punched and adhered multiple times on the top – don’t forget to give the smaller circles a quick flick using Wink of Stellar Clear!

Creating a Magical fairy toadstool with an opening door shaker card with My Paper Oasis, fairy celebration, fairy card, magical, stampin up.

The door was the tricky part! I fussy cut the door – leaving an extra 1/2″ along the left side of the door, to act as a hinge. I had to position it on the white card stock, trace around it lightly, and then cut out that piece.  I then slipped the door hinge through the gap and adhered it to the white card underneath.  I stuck my toadstool head on and the from the back of the card, sliced through the top so the door would open 🙂

You then simply make the rest of the card like you would any other shaker card.  I adhered the littlest fairy inside where the door would open and added glitter and sequins for ‘fairy dust’.  It’s super cute!  My niece got this one for her birthday. I hope you like it as much as she did 😉
