CTC 157 – Case a Colour Combination

Hi Happy Crafters!

Well nutty season has hit! Hands up if you ave finished creating your stash of Christmas cards yet – Yeah me neither! Lol.  I am bound to get there eventually.  I just need everything to STOP first, so I can sit and create and write and address and post them!

So because it’s not like I’m in a hurry to do that or anything … I decided to create something for CTC 157 instead – where this weeks challenge is to CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Selectively Edit) any Colour Combination in any Catalogue.

Despite needing to complete lots more Christmas cards, I decided not to do Christmas at all.  I have had a beautiful friends birthday this past week – so I created for her instead!  I wanted the card to be a bit more special than usual, so I called upon Bronwyn Eastley’s Tutorials to help me along.

Ever since I saw Bronwyn’s Coffee Cafe Easel Card I knew that I had wanted to try it with a vase, which would also be perfect for my friend’s birthday too and to top it off – the catalogue had the perfect colour combination for me to CASE. Don’t you love days you feel like you’re winning!

Here is the Colour Combination I decided to CASE.  You can find it on Page 28 of the current Annual Catalogue.

I love the simple colours, and it even helped me design my card!

So here is my version of Bronwyn’s Coffee Cafe Easel Card using the Jar of Love Framelits!

My Jar of Love Easel Card!

CTC 157 Jar of Love Easel Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis.

Now I can’t share how to actually create the easel – you’ll need Bronwyn’s tutorial for that!  But I can tell you that to get the variance in colours for your flowers, use the stamping off method.  That means you can get more use out of your available colours.  Each colour used here is only one ink pad.

To use the stamp off technique simply ink up your image in your chosen colour, stamp it once on to a scrap piece of paper (our Grid Paper is perfect for this), then, without inking your image stamp it again onto your card stock.  This will give you a ‘lighter’ version of the same colour.  The next image you stamp as normal, giving you the full colour strength.  It really does help you get more use out of your colours!

When creating my card, I really wanted it to give the impression of a vase of flowers on a little doily, like you would find on a table.  I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it could even be used as a decorative piece at home.

I hope you enjoyed my project tonight!

If you would like to take a look at how to make this card then you can hop on over to ADDinktive Designs HERE to purchase the tutorial!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Fi and see what she has created for you all!

New Catalogue Sneak Peak Magical Day

A big hello to you all my crafty friends!

I don’t know about you, but I am pretty excited about the new upcoming Occasions Catalogue and all the wonderful new products!

Did you know that a perk of being a demonstrator means we get to see all the new goodies first! and if you attend the Demonstrator Only On Stage event – you even get to play with some and take some home! WINNING!

Well I thought today that I would share just a little sneak peak of one of my absolutely new favourites that will be available at the beginning of January – The Magical Day Stamp Set.

I don’t normally share too much too early and ruin the excitement for you all … you know – it can be a bit of a wait and there are still so many lovely goodies in the Holiday catalogue to play with!  But I couldn’t resist sharing this one!

I used one of Bronwyn Eastley’s tutorials to create this card – The Lots of Labels Bridge Fold Box Card. You can purchase any of Bronwyn’s Tutorials at her ADDinktive Design Shop right HERE. She has LOADS to choose from!

Sneak Peak Magical Day Bridge Fold Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Sneak Peak Magical Day Bridge Fold Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

The Magical characters in this set are so much fun! I can’t wait to get my hands on the entire suite!

I used Bronwyn’s tutorial as a basis for the card and then added a draw bridge and used the ‘grass’ to create the ‘bridge piece’ for my card.  I simply trimmed away the grass lengths under where the draw bridge sits.

It’s so easy to create brilliant looking characters too with our new Stampin Blends.  I love that we can highlight and shade when colouring. I think it brings much more depth to the stamped images.  And – our Fine Tip Glue Pen can still be used to ‘colour’ over the images.  You can’t see it on the photos, but the Dragon’s belly, wing and fire are coloured with the Fine Tip Glue as is the shield and sword of the Knight to add a lovely glossy finish to the images.

I also embossed a piece of Smokey Slate Cardstock with our Brick Wall Embossing Folder, trimmed away portions to adhere to the card, and sponged them with some Smokey Slate Ink.

The card can even still be folded flat by lifting up the drawbridge and the folding as per instructions!

I love creating something just a little bit different and I was super happy with how this card turned out. I hope you like it to!

Colour INKspiration 22 and 23

Hello my crafty friends!  I am so excited this week because I finally remembered to organise a project and participate in the Colour INKspiration Challenge.

This week we are combining two challenges and they will run for 3 weeks.  Here are your colour choices 🙂

Your first choice is – Beach Christmas

Your Colour Palette for this swatch are Marina Mist; Sahara Sand; Whisper White; Pear Pizzaz and Soft Suede.

Your second choice is Nordic Christmas:

With colour Palette – Crumb Cake; Real Red; Basic Black; Whisper White and Silver Foil.

I would have loved to have completed a project for both colour choices for this round, but an idea popped in to my head that I had to create and alas, I only got time to complete one! But what a ‘one’ it is!

I literally took inspiration from the Christmas image above and tried to recreate it.  It was just so cute, and even though it’s pretty hot here in Australia at Christmas time, I still love the idea of a beautifully decorated fireplace!

Here’s my creation for you this week – A Christmas Step Panel Card!

I used various sets this week to recreate my fireplace. I had stamp sets and framelits everywhere! Lol. But it was so much fun to do!

The Card fold is from Do Stamping with Dawn and is called a Step Panel Card – you can watch her video HERE so you can create one too.

I used the top panel fold as a ‘mantlepiece’ for displaying my items. It’s a bit hard to see, but those candles are sitting toward the front of the mantle by adhering a triangle shape behind the image so it sits upright.

Colour INKspiration Christmas Step Panel Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

My Nan always loves a special card – so I think this one will be off to her at Christmas to enjoy.  She displays my ‘special’ cards all year round! Isn’t she sweet 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my project.  Don’t forget to hop all the way around and see everyone’s creations, then come back and play along in our Facebook Group!

Now it’s time to hop on over to Kim’s page and see what she has created for you 🙂

CTC 155 – Gift Packaging Both Catalogues

Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks CASEing the Catty Blog Hop!

This week its CTC 155 and we are CASEing Gift Packaging from either catalogue!

You may have popped over from Judy’s blog or be starting here – but take the hop full circle for lots of inspiration when creating your own gift packaging – it’s not just about cards after all! Lol.

This week my inspiration is just a little bit obscure! I started with the boxes in the top left of the image below from page 36 in the Holiday Catalogue…

The box on the top is made with the Champagne Foil Sheets.  I really liked the idea of this box, but was going to create in using the Window Box Thinlets.  However…. on my hunt for where I had hidden my Champagne Foil Sheets, I came across my Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate and my mind starting wondering what a Window Box made out of this might look like.  Hmmm, a bit of a fancy Christmas Gift Packaging Idea I thought.  So you know I just had to then create it. So I did!

CTC 155 Gift Packaging with Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate Window Box by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Because of the Acetate Box, it was super tricky to get a good photo – but I gave it my best go so you can get an idea of how sweet this little acetate box really is.

I added a Gold Foil Hexagon to the top of the box for a bit more clarity to the lid, and just like the image I was CASEing – I added a Gold Foil Star on top of that for some extra texture and effect.

Add some ribbon, Year of Cheer Embellishments and a present from the Christmas Around the World Embellishments and I was pretty happy with the simple elegance of the box all dressed up for a pretty special gift for someone!

It is definitely a bit trickier to work with the acetate but I think it was worth it. I used Fast Fuse to join all my tabs as I didn’t want glue making a mess of the acetate. I encourage you to give it try.  I hope you like it as much as I do!

And – the Window Box Thinlets are discounted this week during the Online Extravaganza!!!!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Julia Quinn to see what she has designed for you all this week!

CTC 153 – Holiday Catalogue Tags

Hi Everyone and welcome to CTC 153.  This week we get to CASE (Copy and Share Everything) any Tag from the Holiday Catalogue!

That gives us a lot of options doesn’t it!  So much scope to use our creativity equals so much fun in my book!

When exploring the catalogue I felt that I didn’t need to go much further than this gorgeous tag on the front cover on the Holiday Catalogue …

I was really attracted to the different layers that add lots of elements to the tag.  I decided to turn my tag into a card and made it very Non Christmassy! Lol.

CTC 153 Holiday Catalogue Tags and Colour Me Happy by My Paper Oasis

I have been having a bit of fun playing with our new Stampin’ Blends and the Colour Me Happy Project Kit Bundle that became available for you all to purchase this month, so I decided to use them in this weeks CTC challenge. I mean, that little bird is SUPER cute – I currently want to use him on every project!

I omitted the Rosette from the original design in my CASE and opted for the flower, leaves and mini sequins for a few more layers and a bit more visual effect. I’m super happy with how it turned out too.

The Stampin’ Blends are fabulous, but do take a bit of practice to get used to – so if you use them, don’t give up to quickly!  You have a few important things you NEED to remember to help your journey…

1. You need to use Momento Ink to prevent the ink colour bleeding into your colouring.

2. These blends are designed to be used with the Thick Whisper White Card stock.  They do bleed through underneath as you colour and blend, which is normal for alcohol markers, so don’t panic.

3. The blends are quite moist, so start small and with a light hand.

4. Use the Colour Lifter Pen to remove colour from your images and lighten them.

5. Alcohol markers can colour other elements such as rhinestones and pearls as you can see on this project.

6. Have fun and experiment. Practice makes Perfect!

I do hope you enjoyed my take on the ‘Holiday Catalogue Tag’.  Now its time to pop on over to Monique’s blog and see what she has created for you all this week!

Don’t forget that once you have taken the hop to pop on in to your own craft space, get creating and post a pic on our Facebook Page to join in the challenge!

Stained Glass Technique on Vellum

Hi everyone!

I thought I would pop past today and share my project and YouTube video on how I use the Stained Glass Technique on Vellum to create a lovely Stained Glass effect on stamped images.

I created this card some time ago on a Facebook Live Video and realised recently that I hadn’t posted the information for it! Apologies for that!

I created some special Thank you Note Cards using this technique –

Stained Glass Technique on Vellum by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis with Video Link

I promise – these cards are quick and simple to create.  You can take a look at my How To video HERE .

These cards are our Notecards and Envelopes.  A great value pack of 20 notecards and envelopes, already prescored for you, and available in Whisper White or Very Vanilla to make your card making extra easy!

The piece of vellum for this card front measures 3 3/8″ x 4 7/8″ (or 8.5 cm x 12.5 cm!)

The colours I chose for the Stampin Write Markers where:

Leaves – Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzaz

Petals – Melon Mambo and Rose Red or Pool Party and Bermuda Bay.

Can you imagine these now created with our Stampin Blends!!! I can’t wait to give those a try!

Happy Crafting Friends 🙂

CTC 152 – Painted Autumn – Christmas Treat Tube Holders

A big Hello to you all!

I’ve been super busy with Picture to Page and Market Nights the past couple of weeks, so it’s lovely to be back!

Welcome to CTC 152 – Painted Autumn / Spooky Nights on pages 48 – 55 of the Holiday Catalogue.

I don’t really do Halloween, but this fun section has one of my absolutely favourite items!  The treat tubes!

I had a team meeting recently and I thought it would be lovely to treat them to a hot chocolate. Not just any hot chocolate, one they could make themselves! Lol

So we made these cute as Christmas Treat Tube Holders all dressed up for Christmas.

CTC 152 Treat Tube Holders for Christmas by My Paper Oasis

One tube holds the Hot Chocolate, the other is filled with mini marshmallows.  I found the original idea on split coast stampers HERE from Lisa Somerville.  I noticed her double holder was missing one measurement – so here they are:

Take a piece of cardstock 11″ x 5 1/2″ for the Box Base and score on the long side at 1/2″; 1 3/4″; 4 1/4″; 5 1/2″ and 8″.  Score each short side at 1 1/4″.

My measurements for the cardstock layers and DSP are:

Top Panel Cherry Cobbler – 2 7/8” x 2 3/4”

Top Panel DSP – 2 3/4” x 2 5/8”

Bottom Panel Cherry Cobbler – 2 7/8” x 2 3/8”

Bottom Panel Whisper White – 2 3/4” x 2 1/4”

The best bit – the Be Merry Designer Series Paper is currently included in the Buy 3 Get 1 Free DSP sale! You could make sooooooo many of these with that great special!  But it’s only until October 31st!

Just imaging all the little goodies you could fill these Tubes for Christmas or any other occasion.  They could even be used as a little gift and place setting on your Christmas table – just add a name to the bottom panel for a more personal touch.

I just recommend adding the ribbon before filling the tubes! It can be a bit tricky to tie them whilst trying not to spill the contents! Lol.

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks project.  It’s now time to hop on over to the lovely Rachel to see what she has created for you all!

CTC 150 – Favourite Bigshot Project from Holiday Catalogue

Welcome to CTC 150 where we are CASEing (Copy and Share Everything) our Favourite Bigshot Project from the Holiday Catalogue!

You may have popped over from Fi or be starting right here, but I encourage you to take the full tour and start getting inspired for Christmas with all the gorgeous projects highlighted!

How difficult a task is choosing your FAVOURITE bigshot project!!!! I mean REALLY!!!! There are so many wonderful bigshot projects in the Holiday Catalogue this season to play with!

For me personally – I was able to narrow it down to my two MOST favourite items – the Trim your Stocking Dies or the Christmas Staircase Dies.  The Christmas Staircase dies won and I created my 3D Framed Christmas Tree.

I love this tree and how it can pop right off the card with those brilliant branch framelit pieces.

CTC150 3D Framed Christmas Tree with Ready for Christmas Bundle

Projects that pop really appeal to me. The more 3D the better 🙂

So I went a little bit beyond a card this time to create a 3D Framed Christmas Tree for some Christmas Decor this year.

CTC 150 3D Framed Christmas Tree using the Ready for Christmas Bundle

I sourced a small polystyrene cone shape and sliced it in half to create this tree.  Of course, you could do a complete one for a decoration or a table centrepiece.

I changed the colour from the card pictured and used regular Whisper White Cardstock and added some smaller branches using our Gold Foil  to add a bit of lift and bling.  and its a bit hard to see in the photo, but I have also wrapped some Gold Metallic thread around the tree to give the appearance of tinsel.

Once I was done cutting ALL the pieces, Im not sure how many white branches I ended up cutting, but it was a lot, but not enough to drive you nuts! Lol. I  layered them on the cone, beginning at the base and working my way up, making sure they overlapped for good coverage. I adhered them only by the top 1/4 of the branch, so I could go back and tuck further branches in as necessary to thicken up the tree.

Once my tree was complete I removed the glass from the frame, cut some Garden Green Paper from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper the same size as the frame, and put it all together.  I did hot glue the tree to the DSP to ensure it wouldn’t fall off!  I pulled out our retired Stars Framelits to get the right size star for the tree.

What do you think???

Now it’s time to pop on over to the wonderful Bronwyn Eastley and see what she has for you all!

Don’t forget to play along by creating your own project and then pop on over to our Facebook group and upload your work so the design team can be inspired too!

Happy Crafting Everyone!

CTC 149 – Year of Cheer Mini Pizza Box Gift Cards

It’s Sunday night – so that means it’s time for another CASEing the Catty Challenge, where every week the design team uses images from the current catalogues to Copy and Share with you to help spur your creativity! You may have popped over from Judy or be starting right here, but make sure to take the full tour and see everyones creations!

Challenge 149 is all about the Year of Cheer Section of the Holiday catalogue on Pages 36-47.

The Year of Cheer section has so many sparkly projects to choose from as well as those cute as Mini Pizza Boxes.

So I took inspiration from the Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper and the Mini Pizza Boxes to create Year of Cheer Mini Pizza Box Gift Cards.

I love the elegance of the Year of Cheer DSP and the gorgeous co-ordinating embellishments.  They make it very simple to create stunning cards for special occasions.

CTC 149 Year of Cheer Mini Pizza Box Gift Card by My Paper Oasis

I teamed mine with Fresh Fig cardstock and some Gold and Silver heat embossing to compliment the foil on the papers.  The gift cards are 3″ x 3″ and I have cut the DSP to 2 3/4″ to allow enough of an ‘edge’ to peek through of the base card.  I folded the Gold Foil Snowflake concertina style and adhered the centre to the gift card, so it really ‘pops up’.  The best part is – you can either gift the box and the cards, or use the cards and then pop a gift in the Mini Pizza Box for someone.

We will be making this gorgeous set at a card class at the end of November.  These papers aren’t part of our current Designer Series Paper Sale where you can Buy 3 get 1 FREE – but you could certainly use the ones that are to create your own version!

I hope you like my project.  Now its time to hop on over to Monique and see what she has created for you all.

Don’t forget to create your own and pop on over to the Facebook Challenge page and upload your creation!

Happy Crafting!
