Colour INKspiration 35

Welcome to

Colour INKspiration 35

where today get to choose 3 colours from our new Neutrals colour palette!

Stampin’ Up! ® has just had a major colour revamp, so to start off the new catalogue year at Colour INKspiration we’ve decided to feature a Colour Collection for the first challenge each month (2nd Wednesday) until we have showcased them all! The second challenge in the month (4th Wednesday) will be a Pinterest inspired pic as per usual just to mix it up a bit. This month we are starting off with the NEUTRALS COLLECTION and you can choose any 3 colours from that range for your challenge project. We are also changing the rules about what else you can add to the mix; essentially just the Basics – Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black as well as metallics.

Have you managed to have a good look at our changes to the Colour Families yet?  I LOVE the changes to the colour palettes.  I used to be a Regals collection girl, but now I find I fluctuate between the funky Brights Collection and the Pastels of the Subtles collection.  There are so many new possible colour combinations to choose from and create.

For todays colour challenge, the 3 Neutral Colours I chose were Crumb Cake; Soft Suede and Mossy Meadow.

I hadn’t inked up my Rooted in Nature Bundle yet and I have seen some lovely projects with it – so I decided this colour challenge, with it’s earthy tones,  would suit the use of the bundle perfectly!

Rooted In Nature

My Paper Oasis - Colour INKspiration 35 Neutrals Palette using Rooted in Nature by Stampin Up

I stamped some of the tree in the background using the Stamp Off method before stamping the timber onto a piece of Vellum Cardstock, fussy cutting and adhering over the trees so you can still see them in the background.  Another full strength Mossy Meadow Tree for the front of the timber, some Linen Thread and the card front was complete.

I love the effect where you can still see the trees through the vellum layer!

I hope you enjoyed my project tonight.  Now it’s time to continue along the hop to see all the other great projects made just with Neutrals!

Up next is Elizabeth

CTC 182 – Tea Room meets Painted Glass

Hello and welcome to CTC 182.  This week we are CASEing the Tea Room section on pages 13 – 25 of the Annual Catalogue.

How exciting that we now get to play with HEAPS of new goodies from the BRAND NEW CATTY!

Are you absolutely loving it?

Tonight I’m excited to be playing along. I barely seemed to have time to create lately, so it was good to get crafting for tonights hop.

There was plenty to choose from in the Tea Room section of the catalogue, but this image in particular grabbed my attention…

This card features the gorgeous Stitched all Around Bundle.  I haven’t got mine yet, but I thought it would be perfect to substitute the design using the Painted Glass Bundle.  So here are my

CTC 182 Tea Room Meets Painted Glass Cards:

My first card uses one of my all time favourite returning colours – Mint Macaron.  The rest of the colours I based on the Designer Series Paper Colours from the Natures Poem DSP including one of our new colours – Petal Pink.

My Paper Oasis - CTC 182 Tea Room meets Painted Glass from Stampin Up

I used the Big Shot Embossing Mats to create the embossed shape on the card base.  These mats are brilliant! You will be able to emboss any of your framelit shapes using these mats to create interesting backgrounds to suit any needs.  The rose from the Painted Glass set is one of my favourite flowers.  For this card I fussy cut the roses as I didn’t have any new Stampin Blends to match my colours for the leaves (They’re on my wish list too!)

My second card I made, as i was truly dying to make a card using the new Soft Sea Foam colour.  Maybe it reminds me a bit of our old Pistachio Pudding – but I love it.  I was a bit stumped at first as to what DSP to use as I don’t have much of that yet either, then I remembered our Wood Textures DSP is carrying over and would really help me achieve the subtle look I was after.

My Paper Oasis - CTC 182 Tea Room meets Painted Glass; Stampin Up

I have to say – I really love how this one turned out! I hope you do to. This bundle has so many possibilities – not just for stained glass looks!

Now its time to hop on over to Elizabeth’s blog and see what she has created.  Don’t forget to hop all the way around and get some new catalogue inspiration!

Don’t forget to play along with the CASEing the Catty Challenge.  Just choose a pic, create your own version and upload it to our Facebook page!

Happy Crafting everyone!

CTC 180 – Favourite Retiring Project

So it’s been a while as I’m sure you will all be aware, but life has been SUPER busy lately!  But I have jumped on board for CTC 180 – Favourite Retiring Project.

Today was no easy decision at all.  Retiring time always brings mixed feelings of sadness saying goodbye to my favourites and anticipation for all the new goodies.  I honestly couldn’t decide which was my absolute favourite for today’s challenge, so I combined a few favourites to create my project today.

I think if I was honest, my absolute favourite retiring item would have to be my Large Number Framelits.  I’m not entirely sure what I am going to do without those….who am I kidding, they haven’t even moved out of my ‘current’ framelits basket to my retired but keeping’ basket yet, so I will continue to use them for a LONG time yet!!!  I truly believe they are a MUST HAVE item!

My other favourites are the Rainbow Builder Framelits and the Myths and Magic Bundle – so I added them all to this project that I created for my niece!

My Paper Oasis - CTC 180 Favourite Retiring Project showing Number Framelits, Rainbow Builder Dies and Myths and Magic

I think this card pretty much sums up my favourite retiring projects!  I will miss all of these products so much!  Lucky for you, you still have a few more days to get your hands on our retiring products before they disappear forever.  I’ve learnt the hard way not to delay or you miss out! Don’t be like me and make sure you place your order before May 31st!

I look forward to sharing some of our new goodies with you in the next CASEing the Catty hops!

Now its time to hop on over to the lovely Monique and see what she will miss the most!

Happy Crafting!

CTC 176 – Favourite Occasions Project Apron of Love

Welcome to CASEing the Catty 176 where each Sunday members of the design team create projects from a given section of the current catalogues to help inspire you to create!

This week we get to create our favourite project from the Occasions Catalogue.

That was a bit of a tricky decision as far as I’m concerned.  There are so many projects to love in the Occasions Catalogue – Myths and Magic, Charming Cafe and Sunshine and Rainbows are just a few of my favourites – and they are all retiring 🙁 So if you love them as much as I do, you will want to get them fast – before they are gone forever!

This week however, I chose to show you just how versatile another one of my favourites is (I told you I had a few! Lol).

Apron of Love for Favourite Occasions

I think this bundle is one of the best bundles ever and is sooooo versatile for so many projects!  I decided to CASE all the images above this week!

My Paper Oasis CTC 176 Apron of Love for Favourite Occasions

With MOther’s Day fast approaching, I started with a more feminine card, but created my own embossed look background Like the ‘dad’ card above.  It is actually so very easy to do as the framelit cuts the 4 utensils all at once, and if you use the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets on your cardstock, you simply peel the backing off once they are cut and adhere them to your cardstock! Simple, quick and effective! My favourite!

My Paper Oasis CTC 176 Apron of Love for Favourite Occasions

For my second project, I decided to make a more masculine card.  This one was super quick to make using mostly our Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  I am so very glad this will carry over to the next catalogue!  My dad loves to BBQ – so this will head off to him on his birthday later this year!

My Paper Oasis CTC 176 Apron of Love for Favourite Occasions

For my final project I decided to recreate the little 3D apron on the page for my class attendees this week.  I followed this simple tutorial on Youtube by World of JenCraft – HERE.  They turned out super cute I think!

The Apron of Love Bundle will carry into our new catalogue – but not with the 10% bundle discount! All ‘discounted bundles’ retire at the end of every catalogue, even if the individual products carry over.  So better be quick and grab that discounted bundle – you’re going to LOVE this set as much as me!

I hope you enjoyed all of tonights projects.  Now it’s time to hop on over to Angela’s blog to see her gorgeous project using one of my other favourites!

Don’t forget to join in the challenge too by creating your own favourite and uploading a picture over on our Facebook Page before next week challenge!

Happy crafting everyone!

Beautiful Bouquet Shaker Shadow Box Card

Hi everyone!

April has been SUPER busy, so you may have noticed I took a bit of a break from blogging!

We had Easter, school holidays, a daughter who was in the Grease Arena Spectacular with rehearsals every day, not to mention trying to organise a house to get ready to sell and work!  Ughhhhh …..

So I am slowly working my way back into routine …slowly! Lol.

Today I wanted to share with you another one of my creations using Bronwyn Eastley’s fabulous Mermaid Shaker Shadow Box Card Tutorials.  I think its fair to say that I really enjoy creating with this design.  It makes a great card, with that extra wow, and surprisingly simple to make.

Beautiful Bouquet Shaker Shadow Box CardMy Paper Oasis - Shaker Shadow Box Card using Beautiful Bouquet from Stampin' Up!

This time I used a simple Whisper White Base, and even though you can’t see it in the picture, the front is embossed with our Shimmery White Embossing Paste.  The background for this card is from the Painted with Love Designer Series Paper (DSP), which is thicker than our regular DSP making it perfect for a box style project.

Fill your centre with some Gold Glitter Flakes for some extra pizazz, but just a warning – the static with these things is amazing – so you need to position your acetate quickly! Lol.

Beautiful Bouquet was used to create the pretty bunch of flowers for this card.

You may be wondering where you write your message on this kind of card – simply cut a piece to size for the back panel and write away!

If you would like to create your very own Shadow Shaker Box, pop on over to the Addinktive Designs Tutorial Shop HERE.  Below are a couple of other creations using the same tutorial, so you can see just how versatile they are!  You can swap almost all of the elements for what you have in your own collection.

If you would like to recreate this card, simply click on the items below to go directly to my online store (for residents of Australia only). You had better be quick, as quite a few of the items used are retiring, including our Large Number Framelits – and once they have gone, they are gone for good 🙁

CTC 172 – Myths and Magic

Happy Easter everyone and welcome to CTC 172 – Myths and Magic!

Every Sunday night a new challenge begins for CASEing the Catty where the design team Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit images from a particular section of the current catalogues to help inspire you and show you how much more fun you can get from your products!

This week for CASEing the Catty we are CASEing the Myths and Magic section of the Occasions Catalogue on pages 36-43

The Myths and Magic suite is one of my favourite suites to play with!  I have used these items HEAPS!  So today I chose to CASE the Flying Home Set on Page 41!

I love the little bird houses, so my thought was to make a little notecard pack using the individual birdhouses for someone who may have or be moving house and need to thank people, or you could use them for new neighbours to welcome them to the neighbourhood!  So I CASED the main image, and then the box on the bottom right to pop them all in!

Flying Home Notecard Pack

CTC 172 - Flying Home Notecards by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I used the Narrow Notecards for this project.  I sponged the background with Pool Party, as watercoloring on the notecards makes them pill.  I them masked the images I didn’t want to stamp with a sticky note, before stamping on the card.  I them stamped the entire image on a seperate piece of Whisper White before colouring with the watercolour pencils and blender pens.  I then fussy cut around the birdhouses and mounted them directly over the image on the card front using mini dimensionals.

I also stamped some little birds and fussy cut those before popping them on half a mini dimensional (yes, you can cut the mini ones too!)  I kept the sentiment fairly neutral so you could use them as a thank you or as a welcome card.  The sentiment is from Wood Words.

CTC 172 - Flying Home Notecards by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I then CASEd the box to pop all the notecards in using the Lots to Love Box.  Its fits 3 cards and the envelopes perfectly!

CTC 172 - Flying Home Notecards by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Thanks for popping in!  Now it’s time to continue the hop over on Monique’s Blog and see what she has created they week!

I hope you all have had a lovely Easter!  Don’t forget to keep crafting! And remember – you can join the challenge too by taking a picture of what you create and posting HERE!

Colourful Seasons Bike Ride Shadow Box

A big Hello to you all!

I wanted to share with you today a bit of a fun project using Bronwyn Eastley’s Bike Ride Shadow Box Tutorial.

I made this one for an order for a friend who needed a fiftieth birthday card for her brother in law.  The brief was –  he enjoys bike riding.

Isn’t is lucky that we have the Build a Bike set to make this even easier.  My design is based pretty close to Bronwyn’s, but I needed to make it more masculine!

Colourful Seasons Bike Ride Shadow Box by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I used some embossing paste directly over the cloud dies on the background and gave the card an Autumn feel using Colourful Seasons Bundle and attaching the leaves to the branch.

I did have to use the retired Little Numbers Dies to make sure a 50 could fit nicely onto the card! And I think this is the first time EVER I have used Always Artichoke! Lol. But it needed just a little green to lift the overall look!

Colourful Seasons Bike Ride Shadow Box by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

You get a bit more of an idea of the depth with this picture.

Bronwyn’s tutorials are super fun for creating a ‘special’ card.  Why not pop over to her tutorial shop HERE to see what you can start creating! They really are versatile!

Colour INKspiration 29

Good evening everyone!  Welcome to Colour INKspiration 29.

Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month the Colour INKspiration Crew get together and create a hop using a selected colour palette to create with.  You can join in the fun by creating a project with the colours and popping a picture of it on our Facebook Page HERE by the Monday night before the next challenge.

This weeks colour palette is a beautiful selection chosen by Bronwyn with colours Crumb Cake; Chocolate Chip; Blushing Bride; Garden Green and Very Vanilla.  I initially went to go straight to florals for this colour palette as it’s so suited, but I had another project that needed to be done for a customer order, so I decided to combine the two tasks.

My task was to create a card for a 21st for someone who loves baking.  I was inspired by how Jackie Aitken created a brilliant BBQ Card a few weeks ago, so I thought I could adapt a basic Card in the Box design to create an oven and get it baking!

Oven Card in a Box by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I must say, once I worked out how to cut it to achieve the look I wanted, this was quite fun to make!  I did use a few different bits and bobs to make this card.  The cupcakes were from Lift Me Up Stamps and coordinating dies and utensils and glove from the Apron of Love Bundle.  The Basket Weave Embossing Folder made for a great background to represent tiles – I am so glad this Saleabration item will be continuing in the new Annual Catalogue – I Just love it!

And the best bit – it folds flat for posting!

Don’t forget – there is only 2 more weeks of Saleabration left to grab your freebies!

Keep hopping around – the crew has some beautiful projects on display this week. Up next is Narelle:

CTC 169 Saleabration – Blossoming Basket

Hi all and welcome to CTC 169 where we are back taking a look at the Saleabration Catalogue.

The CASEing the Catty Crew hop every Sunday night and recreate projects from given sections of the catalogues to inspire you all to get crafting!  You can play along too by CASEing a project and then uploading your version to our Facebook group before the challenge closes.

There is only a couple of weeks left to make sure you have everything you want off your Saleabration wish list!  It’s a great time to stock up on all your papers and embellishments and get rewarded for FREE products at the same time!

This week I received my Blossoming Basket Bundle from the second release of items, so I took it for a spin for tonights challenge.

The basket has a beautiful bunch of flowers and the bundle is teamed with the basket weave dynamic embossing folder which will happily be available in the new Annual Catalogue in June 🙂

I created my project using another FREE saleabration item – the Tutti Fruitti Cards and Envelopes.  I would have loved to create a whole set (and I will at some stage)  but I ran out of time before the challenge to colour and get all the fussy cutting done! Lol

CTC 169 Saleabration and Blossoming Basket by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

That embossing folder is just WOW, and when you layer up the flowers in the basket it really adds some extra prettiness to the card!  I also love the effect of the loosely tied tag around the basket using some linen thread.

You really will have lots of fun with this combination and the endless colour combinations you could produce.  And it’s the perfect product for Weddings, birthdays, thank you and sympathy!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Fi to see what she has created for you all this week!

CTC 168 – Petal Passion with Charming Cafe

Hello again!

It’s Sunday night so that means it’s time for another CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop.

This week the crew will CASE (Copy and Share Everything) from the Petal Passion suite in the Occasions Catalogue on pages 22 – 27.

If you follow my Facebook Page then you would see I have been playing A  LOT with the Petal Palette Suite.  I absolutely love it! But tonight I thought I would pop a few more pages in and focus on the Charming Cafe Bundle on Page 25.

I know I say it a lot, but this bundle really caught my eye and I had been waiting (not so) patiently to purchase it for my ‘collection’.  I am a bit of a sucker for a fancy framelit and these were no exception.  What really grabbed my attention was how easily the framelits work together to make a multi layered or dimensional card.

Charming Cafe

I began by creating a bit of a quirky card CASEing the image above.  However, I wanted my Chairs and tables behind the cafe window, so I added an acetate layer to my card.  I need the stamp-a-majig to line it up properly in my window – which ended up being quite fiddly as the acetate kept moving when I tried to move the stamp-a-majig.  Not for the feint of heart I tell you!

I didn’t mind the overall affect, but I was very impatient with my acetate as I used Momento Ink on it hoping to colour the brickwork, but it took far too long to dry and as you can see – it smudged and didn’t dry at all – so if you wanted to do this you could use the archival ink and colour from the back of the image.

CTC 168 Petal Passion using Charming Cafe by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Never mind…you live and learn and at least I had my colour choices right now, so on to my next project…the one I really wanted to create.  A diorama card.  I have made a few of these over the years and we all know I love a 3D card, but this set really just lent itself to creating one of these so very easily!  The framelit that cuts out the seats and table whilst leaving the base intact does all the work for you for this card!  I even pinched a couple of birdies from the Flying Home Stamp set! Shhhh. And colouring is sooooo simple with the Stampin Blends to really make your project pop!

Charming Cafe Diorama Card

CTC 168 - Petal Passion using Charming Cafe Diorama Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Now I LOVE how this one turned out! I guess you could say I ended up CASEing myself! Lol!

 What do you think?

Unfortunately I cannot find the You Tube video I used a few years ago to create a Diorama card, but I am giving away the tutorial with any order placed with me during March.  And don’t forget – March is the LAST month to get any of the FREE Saleabration items with a $90 or $180 purchase!  Don’t miss out!

Now it’s time to hop on over to Monique and see what she has created for you all xx

Happy Crafting
