Crazy about You Baby Wipe Technique

I love to challenge myself with my craft and am always trying to find new things to try.

Having a go at the Baby Wipe Technique has been on my list for such a long time to try – so I had a go – and then we created them at class.

You get inky fingers – but gee it’s a fun technique that has so many possibilities.

So here’s what I created –

12107904_536063799890806_1018891563208853576_n

Those gorgeous flowers were created my using a baby wipe folded into quarters as a stamp pad.  There is a bit of a technique to applying the ink.

  1. Limit yourself to 3 or 4 colours – more than that and they muddy together and the image takes on the darkest colour.
  2. Apply drops of ink randomly on your baby wipe – start with the darkest colour, then the medium shade in different spots and fill the spaces with your lightest shade.
  3. Then simply use this as your stamp pad.

The colours I used were Watermelon Wonder, Hello Honey and Mint Macaron. All finished off with some metallic gold designer paper and gold embossed sentiment.

The second card I made was using the background baby wipe technique where you fold you baby wipe into quarters and then half again and layer drops of desired colours along the folded edge of the baby wipe. You then wipe this across your card as smoothly as possible.

The third method I tried was heat embossing an image onto white card stock using our white embossing powder, then wiping layers using graduated colours.

This card I used Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Watermelon Wonder.

I hope I have inspired you to have a play with this technique, then come back and share your creations in the comments.

I Love a Colour Challenge – Pennsationals Blog Hop #1

12087194_10154242087211686_5797195289822920133_o

It’s the first of our Pennsationals Team Monthly Hops and what fun we are starting with! Its a colour challenge. And not a simple colour challenge – but one that really got the creative juices flowing!

You may have come from the wonderful Tracy Penn or be starting here – either way I hope you hop around and see all the fantastic inspiration everyone has for you.

12108755_10154242753666686_4504733358681698018_n

I have really come to love playing along with design challenges.  I find they really help spur your creativity and get you thinking outside the box.

Take for example this colour challenge.  I would usually never put Blackberry Bliss and Island Indigo together – so that really had to get me thinking how I would use those colours and what my theme would be.  I haven’t really done too many Christmas Cards yet – so I thought this would be as good a time as any to start!

So here’s what I came up with….

Watermarked-Photo-1-2015-10-06-2256.jpg

And of course the inside had to have some silver embossing too!

Watermarked-Photo-2-2015-10-06-2257.jpg

I simply brayered a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with both colours. Staring at either edge every time I laid down colour, to give it a graduating depth of colour. I love the effect – don’t you!

Silver was the only option to choose to set this card off and I have wanted to use this gorgeous stamp from the Embellished Ornaments Stamp Set ever since I first saw it.  The one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the absolute quality of our Stampin Up embossing powders.  They leave such an amazing smooth and clear image. A few more embossed stars from the Jingle All The Way set and I was done.

We will be making a version of this card at an upcoming class next week – It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas – contact me if you would like to join the fun!

I really hope you like it and enjoy hopping around with the rest of the team.

Next stop is on to the lovely Jess at My Paper Caper. Her work is always inspiring so make sure you hop across by clicking the button 🙂 There’s a full list at the bottom in case you get lost along the way.

Welcome to My Paper Oasis

cropped-banner-0011.jpg

A very big welcome to you all to my new website and name – My Paper Oasis!

It took a little while to come up with a suitable name that suited what I was trying to say about my creative space! I had a lot of help from a friend too!  I needed something that described my craft space as a peaceful place. A place where I come to rest and recoup from my hectic nurse, wife and mum of four life!

My craft space is my haven – my sanctuary – my OASIS!

So WELCOME! I hope you enjoy visiting here often and finding some creative inspiration.

Feel free to contact me if you notice any problems whilst I get the site up and running!

A Change is coming!

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you all know that although my lovely blogspot has served me well these past two years – I have decided with much trepidation to make the big move to my very own website!!!!!

OOOHHHHHHHHHH!
I know – huge right!

I wanted to let you know that I will let you know when it the change occurs.  It is in the process of being arranged right now.

I have someone who is doing all this for me (I’m not that savy when it comes to redirecting everything!) – so fingers crossed all posts and pins will link directly to the new webpage.

My final post on this blogspot will have all of the redirection information, just in case links get lost along the way 🙂 And then you can make sure to update your favourites to bookmark my new address 🙂

Wish me luck………………….

Stampin Up Tin of Cards Kit

Need a card in a hurry??? Kits have got you covered!
I knew as soon as I saw this tin of cards at convention, that I HAD to have it.
I really love Card Kits – everything you need to create quick and gorgeous cards, with minimal brainpower!
And to top this kit off – you have a beautiful tin – with dividers – to store all those cards in. Never be short of a card again!
You get so much in this kit. Envelopes, card bases, patterned papers, die cut butterflies, sentiments and tags for sentiments, dividers for the tin, pretty much everything you need except the stamp set!  You can substitute for your own – but I found the matching stamp set so versatile, and I know I will get so much more use out of it!
The kit demonstrates the cards like this –
Like I said – I love being able to whip a card up quick – with little brain power – but I also like to mix things up a little!  So here’s what I created with mine –
I left two of my Gold striped sets blank at this stage – I just think they are too special for anything other than a significant birthday or a wedding. They just pop!  I completed some by the book and had a play with the others.  Im pretty happy with how they turned out 🙂
Here’s a few close ups –
This background paper was by far my most favourite! So i didn’t mess with it too much.

I really love the cut out on this card and will do this more when I make my own cards, and those edge elements in the stamp set just set it off beautifully.

All I can say people is DO NOT waste those gold strips! I loved this blue card for male birthday cards. DO use Staz On black ink when stamping on wood.
Well there you have it. My play time with the Tin of Cards.
I hope you enjoyed it. I really encourage you to get this set for yourself and have a play.
Check out my classes to come along and complete it 🙂
