Card in a Box – Exploding Box

Wow, two posts in two days! I’m doing well!

And that’s because I have another gorgeous creation I wanted to share with you all.
This is a special ‘card’, made for a special person, for her Big Birthday!
This version is referred to as an ‘Exploding Card’. They are fantastic for that ‘extra’ special occasion, and I can’t wait to play a little more with different versions of these!
All wrapped up in a gorgeous little present box. I added my writing to the underside of the lid. Made with Stampin’ Up!s beautiful eastern elegance DSP (which is retiring at the end of June), and using a few other goodies – spiral flower die and beautiful wings embosslits folder. My scan n cut machine cut the 60 out of our glitter paper! All in all I think it’s pretty special!
What do you think?

Petal Cone Die Cake Box

Hi everyone!

I am super excited about this project. I spent most of the day creating it yesterday, and then filmed the video last night.
I have seen these cake boxes before, but I have not been able to find a tutorial on how to make it. I scoured the net a couple of days ago and came across one created by Sharon Field at createbyu.blogspot.com, but I found the tutorial a little tricky to follow and her box opened at the top and I really wanted a box that would close properly at the back so I could fill it with whatever I wanted.
The decoration however came from a picture on Pinterest from Elizabeth Hurst. The picture has her blog as animalscraps.blogspot.com, but I couldn’t find a tutorial for it 🙁
So the task was set. I REALLY wanted to create this cake, so I set about working out how to do it SIMPLY! The biggest barrier is that even a 12″ piece of card stock would not fit around this cake slice. I didn’t want a join at the point on the front of the cake – it needed to be a nice crisp fold. So after a few hours of trying (and getting it wrong) and a few prototypes later……I DID IT!
Here it is…….. What do you think?  ……    Good enough to eat!
It also looks great with a white ribbon tied around the middle.
You can find the YouTube video here showing how to make this.
Feel free to recreate, but I would appreciate linking back to this post. I would love to see what you make 🙂

Spiral Flower Die Watering Can

Oops….I didn’t realise it’s been a week since I have been on here! Gee time flies when you are having fun!  Life can be soooo very busy, so for me, craft is my sanity break!
So, another use for the spiral flower die in the new Occasions Catalogue on Page 32.
I initially wanted to use the flowers in a tea cup – perfect for Mother’s Day…then I remembered I had a template for a watering can….PERFECT!
I used the new DSP out of the Sale a bration Catalogue called Sweet Sorbet, that you can choose for FREE with an order over $90 (not including P & H).
Now I love this DSP, but I can’t lie…I really wasn’t sure what to do with the black pages! I have used it for a couple of things now, and must say I quite like it…but I thought….hmmmm, how would that look as a flower. I’m pretty impressed with the result, let me know what you think.
The template for the watering can was found at splitcoaststampers…an amazing crafty bunch!

Spiral Flower Die

I love the Spiral flower Die that was released in the mini catalogue last month. I new as soon as I saw it that I HAD to have it.

I have been creating a few projects with it in the lead up to my team day today, so now I can reveal them to you all.
I will start with this gorgeous shoe that I have made that I found here. There is a downloadable template so you are able to make your own :-).  It could be filled with a little bag of chocolates (as I have done in the past), or you could even use it to hold lipstick or nail polish or anything else you could think of!
This one was created with the in colour – coastal cabana and a piece of DSP!
Let me know what you think!
