Leave a Little Sparkle!

Oh my goodness! I’m not going to lie! I absolutely LOVE how this card creation turned out. Seriously – it is awesome and it definitely leaves a little sparkle!

Those of you who follow regularly will know I love a little magic, so as soon as I saw this years catalogue I knew that the Leave a Little Sparkle stamp set would be the first item added to my shopping basket! Anything mermaid, unicorn or fairy is always on my fave list, so this set was no different.

I knew when I began playing that I wanted a colourful background, and I wanted to compliment the unicorn with the swirls from the Stargazing stamp set. Out came our new Pigment Sprinkles and Shimmery White Cardstock for the background.

Once I started playing with the sprinkles, I found it tricky to get the look I was after, combining all the colours, so I pulled out my offcuts and made individual coloured squares before adhering them all to a background piece and trimming the edges. I then ran it through the bigshot using the Subtle Embossing Folder, before stamping the swirls and embossing them with White Stampin Emboss Powder. Just a tip – you need to make sure your card is completely dry before embossing images!

Once I was happy with the background, I stamped my unicorn in Momento Ink and then coloured it using our Stampin Blends, in colours coordinating with the pigment sprinkles. A ‘little’ fussy cutting later, and my unicorn was ready to ‘colour’ again with the Fine Tip Glue and sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (I LOVE this stuff) for a little extra sparkle!

I hope you love the effect as much as I do!

Here’s the measurements to make yours!

Basketball birthday card For the Win

Hi all!

I wanted to swing past and show you just how easy it is to create teen cards using the For the Win Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! using just a few products.

This card I made for my sons friend, who is also in to basketball, but there are also golf balls, softballs and baseballs in this set! so you could use it for the whole family. It’s a great versatile set!

Here is the card I made:

I had to create this card quite quickly, so I stuck to a very simple colour scheme of Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Whisper White.

The basketballs really pop when heat embossed with black embossing powder onto the Pumpkin Pie cardstock and then punched out using the 1 1/4″ circle punch (retired) but you can also use the Layering Circle Framelits too.

I also used the gorgeous Rectangular Stitched Framelits to create my borders. I elevated the outside Basic Black layer using our Foam Adhesive Strips, then created the Whisper White inner layer.

For the inner black layer I again used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits to keep a consistent border. I randomly adhered the basketballs over this piece, then trimmed away the excess, before adhering the whole layer onto the Whisper White.

Then its a simple as adhering a sentiment and the trophy!

I hope you’re inspired to add this set to your collection! You won’t regret it.

CTC 240 – Everyday Occasions For the Win

Welcome to CTC 240 – where this week we are CASEing the Everyday Occasions Section of the Annual Catalogue on pages 12-71.

It’s been a long while since I have played along on any challenges, but this week my ‘baby’ turned thirteen, so I had great reason to get creating and play along!

I was so excited to see the For the Win stamp set in the Annual Catalogue this year. I have been waiting for a new sporting stamp set to come out! My son plays basketball and is a fan of the Milwaukee Bucks, so I had to CASE the card on page 59 for this weeks challenge.

I really liked the layout and background stamping, so I kept the basic elements and just changed up the colours to suit the Milwaukee Bucks, and of course, just used the basketball for this card. The stamparatus really helped me to complete the background stamping by using the hinges to evenly space the background sentiment – it just makes it so simple! So here’s my version of this card…

I used a gel pen to imitate stitching lines, and black embossing powder on the basketballs rather than just ink – it just gives it a bit more definition. I also pulled out the Well Said Stamp Set and coordinating Well Written Dies for the words, but used the old faithful retired Little Numbers for the 13!

I hope you like my take on the card this week. I really found CASEing so helpful given my mojo has been MIA for such a long time. I find that once I start creating using the catalogue images as a jumping board, the creativity just starts to flow! Why not give it a go if you’re feeling a bit stuck, and show of your design on the challenge group on Facebook by clicking the image below:

Don’t forget to continue the hop around and see what the rest of the crew have created for you all. There are a lot of pages in the Everyday Occasions section, so there’s a lot of inspiration to be had! Next up is Elizabeth … see what she has created by clicking the link below 🙂

Until next time…keep crafting everyone 🙂

CTC 180 – Favourite Retiring Project

So it’s been a while as I’m sure you will all be aware, but life has been SUPER busy lately!  But I have jumped on board for CTC 180 – Favourite Retiring Project.

Today was no easy decision at all.  Retiring time always brings mixed feelings of sadness saying goodbye to my favourites and anticipation for all the new goodies.  I honestly couldn’t decide which was my absolute favourite for today’s challenge, so I combined a few favourites to create my project today.

I think if I was honest, my absolute favourite retiring item would have to be my Large Number Framelits.  I’m not entirely sure what I am going to do without those….who am I kidding, they haven’t even moved out of my ‘current’ framelits basket to my retired but keeping’ basket yet, so I will continue to use them for a LONG time yet!!!  I truly believe they are a MUST HAVE item!

My other favourites are the Rainbow Builder Framelits and the Myths and Magic Bundle – so I added them all to this project that I created for my niece!

My Paper Oasis - CTC 180 Favourite Retiring Project showing Number Framelits, Rainbow Builder Dies and Myths and Magic

I think this card pretty much sums up my favourite retiring projects!  I will miss all of these products so much!  Lucky for you, you still have a few more days to get your hands on our retiring products before they disappear forever.  I’ve learnt the hard way not to delay or you miss out! Don’t be like me and make sure you place your order before May 31st!

I look forward to sharing some of our new goodies with you in the next CASEing the Catty hops!

Now its time to hop on over to the lovely Monique and see what she will miss the most!

Myths and Magic Shaker Shadow Box Card

Hi everyone!

Today I thought I would pop past and share on of my creations with you all!

You see, my niece turned 18 last week – so that requires a bit more of a ‘special’ card in my eyes.  I mean, its a pretty special birthday and something to celebrate. Plus, its another good excuse to create a 3D project! Lol.

My niece is a BIG Harry Potter fan, so I knew whatever I created had to be themed around that.  Aren’t we lucky that our new Myths and Magic Suite could make sure that happened for me!

I used Bronwyn Eastley’s Magic Mermaid Shaker Shadow Box tutorial again (you can see my first creation HERE) to create the base of this card.  However Lou, one of the other AddINKtive Design Team members created the same box with clear acetate, so I guess you can say I CASEd her’s as well! (with permission of course!) You can see her design HERE.

So here it is – my

Myths and Magic Shaker Shadow Box Card!

Myths and Magic Shaker Shadow Box by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I have created the back portion of the box using the Myths and Magic Speciality Designer Series Paper.  This is just one of a couple of lots of Designer Paper in the new Occasions Catalogue that is thicker than regular Designer Paper, making it fantastic for 3D projects!  The centre piece, number 18 and sentiment are all using our Silver Foil – it was just SUPER difficult to photograph with the dark background and glare off the acetate no matter what lighting I tried to use!

The wizard himself has been stamped and coloured using our Stampin’ Blend Alcohol markers, but the little wizard and the castle in the background are fussy cut directly from other pieces of the Designer Paper.  I thought the young wizard at least had Gryffindor’s colour scheme! All I really need was a white owl! Lol.

The castle and trees are actually set on the very back panel, so here’s a bit of a close up for you –

Myths and Magic Shaker Shadow Box Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oaisis

It’s a mini Hogwarts!

The lovely ‘Celebrate’ die is a FREE item available during Saleabration.  It was cut from our Silver Foil Sheets with a Fresh Fig Sentiment layered underneath help ‘lift’ it off the card.

The shaker middle section just adds a bit of extra bling and fun to the card!

Bronwyn’s tutorials are really very versatile! Once you have the base, you can mix it up to suit your needs!  Take a look at her tutorial store and all that is on offer HERE.

I hope you enjoyed my project today!

You can purchase any of the items to create this yourself in my online store, or by clicking on the images below.  Remember to take advantage of our FREE items during Saleabration – but only until March 31st!  So don’t miss all those lovely FREE goodies on offer!

CTC 162 – Sweet Soiree with Sunshine and Rainbows

Good evening everyone and welcome back to CASEing the Catty, where every Sunday night the design team CASE’s (Copy and Share Everything) from a given section of the current catalogues.  You can play along too, by creating your own masterpiece and loading your picture on our Facebook page right HERE. You have one week to get your entry in 🙂

We are up to CTC 162 – where we are CASEing the Sweet Soiree Section of the Occasions Catalogue, on pages 10-14.

CTC 162 - Sweet Soiree

It’s only a few pages of the catalogue, but it is overflowing with gorgeous projects ready to be recreated with your own spin on them!  I chose to play around with the card on the right on Page 14 –

I have already been having a bit of fun with the Sunshine and Rainbows suite – and I knew I wanted to take it out and play again!  I kept pretty close to the card in the Catalogue for the challenge, just changing and adding a few elements, and combining it with the Unicorn from the Magical Day Stamp Set – It’s like these sets were made for each other!

CTC 162 - Sweet Soiree with Sunshine and Rainbows by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I started by spritzing yellow brusho on a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock because it holds the water so much better than Whisper White. Once that was dry I flicked some water drops all over and sprinkled with Gold Embossing powder and heat set, to create the Gold splatters. Did you know that you can simply use water for embossing powder splatters? I stamped the sentiment in versamark and also heat set with Gold Embossing powder.

I chose to cut my rainbow using the framelits and scraps of coloured cardstock. a tip for your rainbows is to nest them together and line them up from the back, then simply apply a few pieces of tear n tape adhesive to hold them together – no tombow glue to mess about with, and then you can pop the whole lot up on dimensionals like I have done.

The clouds were cut from our Myths and Magic Glimmer Paper Pack for a bit of added sparkle, and the Unicorn, from our Magical Day Set, was coloured with our Stampin Blends!  The horn is also sparkled with gold glitter.  Easy to do once you have applied a bit of Fine Tip Glue to the horn – just add Gold Glitter and let it dry!

Colour INKspiration 25 – Epic Celebrations

Hi everyone and welcome back to Colour INKspiration Challenges for 2018.

Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month the crew design a project with the colour template we are given.  You are able to join in the fun too, by creating your own project with the selected colours and then posting them our Facebook Page HERE.  I hope you can join us for our Colour Challenge kick off for 2018 with Colour INKspiration 25!

Here is our Colour Palette for this challenge –

Your Colours are simply Night of Navy; Whisper White and Lemon Lime Twist!

I don’t think I would have thought of putting Night of Navy and Lemon Lime Twist together before this challenge, but they actually go very well together!  I had to play around with ideas in my head for this one for a while, but I decided to create a bit of a funky card for a young man’s upcoming birthday using the brand new Saleabration Set Epic Celebrations.

For me, Epic Celebrations is a fantastic teen set – sometimes some of the most difficult cards to make in my opinion.  And it’s even better because you can choose it for FREE with any $90 order!

Colour INKspiration 25 - Epic Celebrations by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

This was such a fun card to make.  I just kept adding to it.  I knew I originally wanted a water coloured background with the Navy specks, but I then added to that with our new Shimmery White Embossing Paste and the brick background, then I added some Gold Glitter Flakes for a bit of extra background ‘noise’! And whilst we don’t actually have any 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon in Navy – you can colour the white ribbon with our Stampin Blend Alcohol Markers – so thats what I did – and Ta Da – Night of Navy Ribbon!

What do you think? Funky enough for a young man?

The crew have some AMAZING projects for you on the hop – so jump on over to the lovely Jacque to see what she has created for you all.

Colour INKspiration 17

Hi everyone and welcome to Colour INKspiration 17!

Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month we get to play along to a gorgeous colour combination inspired from Pinterest Images.  This week we have such a bright and fun colour palette to work with!

The colours this week are Pool Party; Lemon Lime Twist; Tempting Turquoise and Flirty Flamingo!  They scream spring and summer to me, unfortunately in Melbourne there is very little sign of sun at all!

I was grateful for the bright cheery colours though this week.  It’s my niece’s birthday this week and I needed to make her a birthday card, so I combined this colour Inspiration with a tutorial from the amazing Bronwyn Eastley at addINKtive Designs to create my project.

I used Bronwyn’s This Little Piggy Slider Card tutorial for the base of my project and switched out the colours to suit this challenge, as well as using my gorgeous Magical Mermaid Stamp.

This card design is extra fun because it’s interactive.  You can actually move the mermaid along the card, so a bit of extra fun for my niece!  If you would like to make a card like this then just pop on over to the AddINKtive Designs Tutorial Shop where you can purchase the tutorial and create your own design 🙂

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Simone Bartrum and see what beautiful project she has for you all.

CTC 143 Pocket Full Of Sunshine Gift Card

Hi everyone and welcome to CASEing the Catty Challenge 143.  This week we are taking inspiration for the Artistic Expression Section of the Annual Catalogue on Pages 132 -181.

CTC 143

So take the hop all the way around, be inspired, flick through the pages in the catalogue, create your own CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit) and then upload your own creation directly to our Facebook Page HERE. You have until next Sunday night to complete the challenge!

I had to create a birthday card this week for my son’s friend. I knew which stamp set I wanted to use, so I looked for some inspiration in what type of layout.

I chose to CASE the Flamingo design on Page 164 to create my Pocketful of Sunshine Gift Card.

I thought the layout would work really well, and I was wondering what to do on the background of my card to jazz it up a bit, so this card inspired me to use my recently purchased Marbled stamp set.

Here’s what I created…

CTC 134 Pocketful of Sunshine Gift Card by My Paper Oasis.

I am really liking this set, and the fact that a gift card fits perfectly inside the little pocket.  It really makes it super simple to make a quick card for the recipient!  I added the notes behind the gift card, so the pocket still has something in it once he uses his gift card.  I loved how quickly this card came together by simply taking a flick through the catalogue to get inspired, but still looks very different to the original!

I hope you enjoyed my creation this week.  Now it’s time to hop on over to Monique’s Blog and see what she has created this week!

CTC 134 – No Bones About It Babies and Kids

Welcome to the next CTC blog hop, where this week we CASE (Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit) from the ‘babies and kids’ section of the Annual Catalogue.

Today I am CASEing the project on page 109 of the catalogue using the No Bones About It Stamp set.  Just the stamp set you need for any dinosaur lover – which just happens to be my nephew who needed a birthday card 🙂

I love the card on the right hand side.  If I don’t have a piece of designer paper that suits my needs then I just pick a stamp set and create my own.

Have you ever tried it?  It really is a lot of fun and makes it quick and easy to complete a set of cards all at once.

Simply choose the colours and imagery you want, then set to work randomly stamping the images on an A4 piece of whisper white card stock.  Cut it up to create four card fronts! It really is that easy.  Here is what I created this week…

CTC 134 - No Bones About It for babies and kids by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis. Use any set from Stampin' Up!s range to create your very own designer series paper backgrounds.

This first card has just a couple of extra elements like the background coordinating colour behind the sentiment, as well as a couple of fussy cut leaves and a dinosaur on dimensionals for a bit of extra fun!

My second card uses the same background, but has a different feel when the extra elements and the background colours are changed…

CTC 134 - No Bones About It for babies and kids by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis. Use any set from Stampin' Up!s range to create your very own designer series paper backgrounds.

So from one sheet of whisper white, I was able to make these four cards of two different designs.  You could change it up even more and have a different colour background for all four.

One sheet – four cards, 2 designs.  It’s that simple!

Pop on over to see my you tube video HERE on how I created this background paper and others :-)

Try it with any stamp set at all.  Baby, flowers, insects, artsy…whatever you desire!

Pop on over to see my you tube video HERE on how I created this background paper and others 🙂

Here is my template for the One Sheet Wonder mentioned on the video:

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Judy to see what she has created for you all!

Dont forgot to come back and play along after you have taken the hop.  Create your own CASE and share it to our Facebook Group right HERE – no blog necessary!
