CTC 192 – Tranquil Textures

Welcome to another week of CASEing the Catty!

CTC 192 – Tranquil Textures

This week we are CASEing the Tranquil Textures section of the Annual Catalogue between pages 154 – 163.

We would love you to play along with the challenge to. So take the hop, create your own project using inspiration from the catalogue images from the given section and then pop a picture of it on our Facebook Page HERE.

This is a gorgeous section of the catty to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit or Copy and Share Everything).  But i couldn’t go past the card on the bottom left below, found on page 157…

I thought it was a great colour combination and not one I would naturally think to use myself, so I had to have a play!

Now I didn’t mess with the design too much at all for this card because I LOVED the texture and layers that the Timeless Textures stamp set created on this card.  Not to mention the gorgeous green!  So my card ended up VERY similar to the original.

Healing Hugs Card

CTC 192 - Tranquil Textures using Healing Hugs by Mel at My Paper Oasis , Stampin Up

I used Granny Apple Green for my card base which is then stamped with one of the textured stamps from Timeless Textures. I also chose to use the rose from Healing Hugs for my card and Crushed Curry, because if you have been following me on Facebook you will know I have been featuring this stamp set heaps lately!!!

I think the overall effect of this card is quite lovely. I hope you do too!

Now its time to hop on over to Judy’s blog and see what she has created this week.

Colour INKspiration 39 – Subtles

Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks Colour INKspiration 39 – Subtles.

For this challenge we are using the subtle colour palette, where you can choose 3 subtle colours plus any basics to create your project.  Remember, once you have created it jump on over to the Colour INKspiration facebook group to upload your pic for the challenge right HERE.

Since our colour shake up in June,  the Subtles collection has by far been my stand out favourite colour group.  There is such a range of pretty, coordinating hues to play with, and Soft Sea Foam is by far one of my stand out colours!

However, today I decided to create my card in hues of blue using my current favourite stamp set – Healing Hugs!

I used a tutorial by the very talented Jennifer McGuire called Stamped see through cards to create tonights card.  I thought Healing hugs and the leaves would work perfectly to create a similar look to the one she creates on her video HERE.

Colour ONKspiration 39 Healing Hugs from Stampin' Up! by Mel at My Paper Oasis

These cards work by layering all the individual pieces together so they slightly overlap, then adhering them, so the card front is see through in the gaps.  It’s quite a clever and effective card and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

My flowers are coloured using Pool Party ink, the gently using a sponge dauber around the edges to add some Balmy Blue for extra depth. Add a bit of Pear Pizzaz for the leaves and my challenge was complete!

I hope you enjoyed my creation this week.  Don’t forget to upload yours by Monday 20th of August.

Now its time to hop on over to Jackie’s blog to see what she has created!

Happy Crafting everyone!

 CTC 190 – Artistic Impressions Pages 127 – 141

Every week the design team get together to showcase a section of one of our catalogues to show you just how easy it is to create a project based on a design in the catalogue. You can join in the challenges each week.  Just CASE a project from the selected section and upload a picture of your design by 7pm next Sunday!  Here’s the link to play along:

Caseing the Catty Facebook Page

This is a gorgeous section of the Annual Catalogue.  There’s lots of products I want to get my hands on in here!

Today I decided to CASE the image on page 135 – and from the looks of the teams projects this design has been quite popular!

I changed the orientation of my card, and because I wanted a colour card base, I stamped my images onto Whisper White before fussy cutting them and adhering them to the card.  I then cut around the outline of the images again for the card front.

CTC 190 - Healing Hugs Stamped Card by Mel at My Paper Oasis

I love playing with Healing Hugs, so I knew that the flower was what I wanted to use to create this card. I also combined it with the Stitched Labels Framelits – You NEED those framelits in your crafting stash!  They are amazing!  I stamped two of the flowers in Calypso Coral and the other flower was created by inking up in Daffodil Delight, then sponging the edges with Calypso Coral using an ink dauber.  Its a gorgeous effect that you can use on any flower image.

I hope you enjoyed my project today.  Now it’s time to hop on over to Kathryn’s blog and see what she has created this week!

CTC 182 – Tea Room meets Painted Glass

Hello and welcome to CTC 182.  This week we are CASEing the Tea Room section on pages 13 – 25 of the Annual Catalogue.

How exciting that we now get to play with HEAPS of new goodies from the BRAND NEW CATTY!

Are you absolutely loving it?

Tonight I’m excited to be playing along. I barely seemed to have time to create lately, so it was good to get crafting for tonights hop.

There was plenty to choose from in the Tea Room section of the catalogue, but this image in particular grabbed my attention…

This card features the gorgeous Stitched all Around Bundle.  I haven’t got mine yet, but I thought it would be perfect to substitute the design using the Painted Glass Bundle.  So here are my

CTC 182 Tea Room Meets Painted Glass Cards:

My first card uses one of my all time favourite returning colours – Mint Macaron.  The rest of the colours I based on the Designer Series Paper Colours from the Natures Poem DSP including one of our new colours – Petal Pink.

My Paper Oasis - CTC 182 Tea Room meets Painted Glass from Stampin Up

I used the Big Shot Embossing Mats to create the embossed shape on the card base.  These mats are brilliant! You will be able to emboss any of your framelit shapes using these mats to create interesting backgrounds to suit any needs.  The rose from the Painted Glass set is one of my favourite flowers.  For this card I fussy cut the roses as I didn’t have any new Stampin Blends to match my colours for the leaves (They’re on my wish list too!)

My second card I made, as i was truly dying to make a card using the new Soft Sea Foam colour.  Maybe it reminds me a bit of our old Pistachio Pudding – but I love it.  I was a bit stumped at first as to what DSP to use as I don’t have much of that yet either, then I remembered our Wood Textures DSP is carrying over and would really help me achieve the subtle look I was after.

My Paper Oasis - CTC 182 Tea Room meets Painted Glass; Stampin Up

I have to say – I really love how this one turned out! I hope you do to. This bundle has so many possibilities – not just for stained glass looks!

Now its time to hop on over to Elizabeth’s blog and see what she has created.  Don’t forget to hop all the way around and get some new catalogue inspiration!

Don’t forget to play along with the CASEing the Catty Challenge.  Just choose a pic, create your own version and upload it to our Facebook page!

Beautiful Bouquet Shaker Shadow Box Card

Hi everyone!

April has been SUPER busy, so you may have noticed I took a bit of a break from blogging!

We had Easter, school holidays, a daughter who was in the Grease Arena Spectacular with rehearsals every day, not to mention trying to organise a house to get ready to sell and work!  Ughhhhh …..

So I am slowly working my way back into routine …slowly! Lol.

Today I wanted to share with you another one of my creations using Bronwyn Eastley’s fabulous Mermaid Shaker Shadow Box Card Tutorials.  I think its fair to say that I really enjoy creating with this design.  It makes a great card, with that extra wow, and surprisingly simple to make.

Beautiful Bouquet Shaker Shadow Box CardMy Paper Oasis - Shaker Shadow Box Card using Beautiful Bouquet from Stampin' Up!

This time I used a simple Whisper White Base, and even though you can’t see it in the picture, the front is embossed with our Shimmery White Embossing Paste.  The background for this card is from the Painted with Love Designer Series Paper (DSP), which is thicker than our regular DSP making it perfect for a box style project.

Fill your centre with some Gold Glitter Flakes for some extra pizazz, but just a warning – the static with these things is amazing – so you need to position your acetate quickly! Lol.

Beautiful Bouquet was used to create the pretty bunch of flowers for this card.

You may be wondering where you write your message on this kind of card – simply cut a piece to size for the back panel and write away!

If you would like to create your very own Shadow Shaker Box, pop on over to the Addinktive Designs Tutorial Shop HERE.  Below are a couple of other creations using the same tutorial, so you can see just how versatile they are!  You can swap almost all of the elements for what you have in your own collection.

You had better be quick, as quite a few of the items used are retiring, including our Large Number Framelits – and once they have gone, they are gone for good 🙁

Sympathy with Heartfelt Blooms by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I have created mine using Fresh Fig cardstock and Ink, but you could use any colour you choose.  A brighter colour would give this card a nicer feel for a birthday for instance. A add some rhinestones or pearls for extra pizzaz!

I have included the measurements today do you can create your own Sympathy with Heartfelt Blooms card.  It is so quick and simple you won’t stop at just one!

Colour INKspiration 27 – Petal Palette

Hi everyone.

Welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge Number 27!

Colour INKspiration happens every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.  The design team are given a colour swatch to create their projects with and then we put together a hop to inspire you all to get creating!

You can join in the challenges.  Just create your project using the given colour palette (neutrals and metallics are allowed) and then upload a picture on to our Facebook Group HERE.

This week we are playing with hues of blue and pink…

Your colour selection is – Powder Pink; Pool Party; Melon Mambo and Island Indigo.

Melon Mambo and Island Indigo are fairly strong colours, so I was trying to work out how to incorporate them into a design without overpowering the softer colours.  An idea sprung to mind and I began playing.  I used our gorgeous new Petal Palette Bundle for my design.  Ever since I have received it I haven’t been able to stop playing.  It’s a beautiful set that can have a vintage or modern feel depending on your design.

Colour INKspiration 27 Petal Palette

Colour INKspiration 27 - Petal Palette by Mel Pagano @ My Paper Oasis

I decided I wanted to keep this card quite subtle, so I included lots of white space, and embossed my images with White Embossing Powder before watercoloring them.  I used Shimmery White Cardstock for the images that I have coloured as it holds watercolouring much better than Whisper White.  We are allowed to incorporate neutrals into our designs, so I added touches of Sahara Sand for the stamped leaves in the background and to watercolour the embossed leaves.  I then simply trimmed my flower image to allow me to have the individual designs.  A few gentle curls of our Whisper White Organza Ribbon, a flick of tombow mixed with water and a sprinkle of Gold Glitter and the card was complete!

I haven’t popped a sentiment on this card yet as I think it could be used for multiple purposes – so I will add it when I know where its going!

I have a special this month where you can get a tutorial and card kit free when you purchase the Petal Palette Bundle this month.  You can find out more HERE.

I hope you enjoyed my project today.  Make sure you take the entire hop and see all the lovely creations.

Next up is Denita 🙂

CTC 164 – Occasions Kits with Petal Palette

Hi everyone! Welcome to CTC 164 where this week we are CASEing the Occasions Kits of the Occasions Catalogue, on pages 15 – 17.

The kit you see pictured here is the Lots of Happy Card Kit!  I absolutely love this kit and have already had a class using it, which the participants loved as well!  The best bit about this prepackaged kit is that it is literally a class ready to go!

It has absolutely everything you need to create your projects, other than snail adhesive – It includes the stamp set, an ink spot, all card bases, envelopes, embellishments, ribbons, pencils and a basic stamp block to get you started creating right away!  They are great for beginners, those with limited supplies, or to take away when travelling! You can even get a refill of this one!  I cannot recommend these kits highly enough!

For today’s challenge however, I created my own little kit using the cards on the bottom of page 17 as a basis, using the Petal Palette Bundle.

I loved how bright and fun these cards were.  I started by creating with the Lemon Lime Twist Card.

Occasions Kits with Petal Palette!

CTC 164 - Occasions kits using Petal Palette by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Even though it’s a bit hard to see, I substituted the Happy Birthday Sentiment on the original card for the spotted stamp in the Petal Palette Stamp Set.  To create the flowers I stamped the image one a piece each of Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Soft Sky Card stock.  I used the Lemon Lime twist as my base piece, and then fussy cut the flowers in the other colours, before layering them on to the base piece.

CTC 164 - Occasions Kits using Petal Palette by Mel Pagano at MY Paper Oasis

My second card was the Berry Burst Card.  I stamped one of the smaller flower images on the card base, so it was similar to the original.   For this card I lightly watercolored my images with an aqua painter, which I kept quite dry as I was using regular Whisper White Cardstock.

CTC 164 - Occasions Kits using Petal Palette by Mel Pagano at My paper Oasis

The third card is just a little 4″ x 4″ card.  I changed the elements for this one to more suit my stamp set – I mean – I hadn’t even inked up that sweet little bird yet!  Even those this stamp set has coordinating framelits, I still fussy cut one of the flowers, as the framelit left a lot of white space in the middle that didn’t look right on this layout. And, if you purchase the whole bundle for this suite you automatically qualify for a FREE Saleabration item! How good is that!

And that my friends, is my own little Occasions Kit with Petal Palette! I am so happy with how my little kit turned out that I am offering this card kit tutorial for Free with the purchase of this bundle from me, for the month of February!

CTC 158 – Case a project from the page thats your age

Well hello everyone! Have we got a fun CASEing the Catty for you tonight!  Tonight we get to CASE a project form the page that’s your age! Lol.  And it can be from any catalogue!  We also had a disclaimer clause that we could use the page that is the age we would like to be!!!

How much fun is this weeks challenge going to be! I can’t wait to see all your projects as you play along for this one!

I decided this week be brave and CASE a project from the page that was my actual age!  So over on page 43 of the Annual Catalogue you will find the design that I CASED this week –

I CASED the layout from the little notebook on the left hand side.  Initially I was going to use the same coloured DSP from the Colour Theory Suite, but then I completely changed my mind, pulling out the yet to be used Petal Garden DSP Stack instead!

I kept the same basic layout and used the Tabs for Everything Stamp set for my sentiment and created this card instead…

CTC 158 - A page thats your age using Petal Gardens DSP by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

As you can see, I changed up the colours and imagery, but kept the basic layout the same.  I don’t think I use our Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate anywhere near enough!!!!

Here’s a bit more of a close up for you so you can really see the elements!

CTC 158 - A page that's your age using Petal Garden by Mel Pagano at My paper Oasis

The Petal Garden DSP has some really beautiful floral imagery, and those roses were fussy cut straight from a piece of it!  How easy is that!

I really do enjoy the variations you can create simply by CASEing a project from the catalogue and changing a few elements!

I can’t wait to see what you do with this challenge this week!

Now it’s time to hop on over to Angela’s page and see what her age…oops…project is this week 😉

Then don’t forget to come back and play along with your own project. Simply post a pic over on our Facebook Group –

CTC 157 – Case a Colour Combination

Hi Happy Crafters!

Well nutty season has hit! Hands up if you ave finished creating your stash of Christmas cards yet – Yeah me neither! Lol.  I am bound to get there eventually.  I just need everything to STOP first, so I can sit and create and write and address and post them!

So because it’s not like I’m in a hurry to do that or anything … I decided to create something for CTC 157 instead – where this weeks challenge is to CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Selectively Edit) any Colour Combination in any Catalogue.

Despite needing to complete lots more Christmas cards, I decided not to do Christmas at all.  I have had a beautiful friends birthday this past week – so I created for her instead!  I wanted the card to be a bit more special than usual, so I called upon Bronwyn Eastley’s Tutorials to help me along.

Ever since I saw Bronwyn’s Coffee Cafe Easel Card I knew that I had wanted to try it with a vase, which would also be perfect for my friend’s birthday too and to top it off – the catalogue had the perfect colour combination for me to CASE. Don’t you love days you feel like you’re winning!

Here is the Colour Combination I decided to CASE.  You can find it on Page 28 of the current Annual Catalogue.

I love the simple colours, and it even helped me design my card!

So here is my version of Bronwyn’s Coffee Cafe Easel Card using the Jar of Love Framelits!

My Jar of Love Easel Card!

CTC 157 Jar of Love Easel Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis.

Now I can’t share how to actually create the easel – you’ll need Bronwyn’s tutorial for that!  But I can tell you that to get the variance in colours for your flowers, use the stamping off method.  That means you can get more use out of your available colours.  Each colour used here is only one ink pad.

To use the stamp off technique simply ink up your image in your chosen colour, stamp it once on to a scrap piece of paper (our Grid Paper is perfect for this), then, without inking your image stamp it again onto your card stock.  This will give you a ‘lighter’ version of the same colour.  The next image you stamp as normal, giving you the full colour strength.  It really does help you get more use out of your colours!

When creating my card, I really wanted it to give the impression of a vase of flowers on a little doily, like you would find on a table.  I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it could even be used as a decorative piece at home.

I hope you enjoyed my project tonight!

If you would like to take a look at how to make this card then you can hop on over to ADDinktive Designs HERE to purchase the tutorial!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Fi and see what she has created for you all!

Don’t forget you to can play along with our challenges every week.  Create your own project and post a pic on our Facebook Group right HERE.

Happy Crafting everyone!
