Colour INKspiration 41

Welcome to Colour INKspiration 41.

Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month the Colour INKspiration crew create projects with a given colour palette.  You can join in the fun too, by creating your own work of art and uploading the image to our Facebook Page HERE.

This week we are using our Regals Collection to inspire you all.

Choose any three colours from this collection plus any basics for your project.

My project for this week was based on Bronwyn Eastley’s Share What you Love Pocket Card Tutorial but I used the Wonderful Moments Stamp Set.

Colour INKspiration 41 Wonderful Moments Pocket Card by Mel at My Paper Oasis

This card is a great fold and simple to make. Its a bit hard to see but I have used the Tufted Embossing Folder to create a pretty embossed background behind the bride.

I used Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Smokey Slate for my cardstock, and a touch of Crushed Curry from the special release Watercolour Pencils available last month for the brides hair.

I love how this turned out. So much so, we made this very card at class this week!

I hope you liked my project.  If you would like to learn how to create this card fold then pop on over to Bronwyn’s Tutorial store HERE.

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Tanya Bell and see what she has created for you all.

Healing Hugs Pocket Card

Hi all,

I thought I would pop by today to share with all you this brilliant Pocket Card design by Bronwyn Eastley.

I have used our beautiful Healing Hugs stamp set to create the centre piece of my pocket car, but you can easily change up the design to add whatever suits the occasion!

Healing Hugs Pocket Card

Healing Hugs Pocket Card by Mel at My Paper Oasis

These clever cards are designed so that you pull out the card from the pocket to add your message.

Despite the look they are actually really simple to make.

I have used Stamps from the Timeless textures stamp set in the background, and its a bit hard to see, but i created a very soft background layer on the white cardstock using Sahara Sand and the Sheet Music stamp.  These two stamp sets are great for creating interesting textured backgrounds and adding depth to your cards.

Do you want to know how to create your own Pocket Card?  Pop on over to Bronwyn’s tutorial shop HERE and see all her amazing designs!

Beautiful Bouquet Shaker Shadow Box Card

Hi everyone!

April has been SUPER busy, so you may have noticed I took a bit of a break from blogging!

We had Easter, school holidays, a daughter who was in the Grease Arena Spectacular with rehearsals every day, not to mention trying to organise a house to get ready to sell and work!  Ughhhhh …..

So I am slowly working my way back into routine …slowly! Lol.

Today I wanted to share with you another one of my creations using Bronwyn Eastley’s fabulous Mermaid Shaker Shadow Box Card Tutorials.  I think its fair to say that I really enjoy creating with this design.  It makes a great card, with that extra wow, and surprisingly simple to make.

Beautiful Bouquet Shaker Shadow Box CardMy Paper Oasis - Shaker Shadow Box Card using Beautiful Bouquet from Stampin' Up!

This time I used a simple Whisper White Base, and even though you can’t see it in the picture, the front is embossed with our Shimmery White Embossing Paste.  The background for this card is from the Painted with Love Designer Series Paper (DSP), which is thicker than our regular DSP making it perfect for a box style project.

Fill your centre with some Gold Glitter Flakes for some extra pizazz, but just a warning – the static with these things is amazing – so you need to position your acetate quickly! Lol.

Beautiful Bouquet was used to create the pretty bunch of flowers for this card.

You may be wondering where you write your message on this kind of card – simply cut a piece to size for the back panel and write away!

If you would like to create your very own Shadow Shaker Box, pop on over to the Addinktive Designs Tutorial Shop HERE.  Below are a couple of other creations using the same tutorial, so you can see just how versatile they are!  You can swap almost all of the elements for what you have in your own collection.

Colourful Seasons Bike Ride Shadow Box

A big Hello to you all!

I wanted to share with you today a bit of a fun project using Bronwyn Eastley’s Bike Ride Shadow Box Tutorial.

I made this one for an order for a friend who needed a fiftieth birthday card for her brother in law.  The brief was –  he enjoys bike riding.

Isn’t is lucky that we have the Build a Bike set to make this even easier.  My design is based pretty close to Bronwyn’s, but I needed to make it more masculine!

Colourful Seasons Bike Ride Shadow Box by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I used some embossing paste directly over the cloud dies on the background and gave the card an Autumn feel using Colourful Seasons Bundle and attaching the leaves to the branch.

I did have to use the retired Little Numbers Dies to make sure a 50 could fit nicely onto the card! And I think this is the first time EVER I have used Always Artichoke! Lol. But it needed just a little green to lift the overall look!

You get a bit more of an idea of the depth with this picture.

Bronwyn’s tutorials are super fun for creating a ‘special’ card.  Why not pop over to her tutorial shop HERE to see what you can start creating! They really are versatile!

And don’t forget – you only have until the weekend to stock up on all those FREE Saleabration goodies you are after!  Now is the perfect time to stock up on cardstock, Designer Paper, adhesives and the retiring In Colours and reap the rewards with FREE items!

CTC 166 – Lots to Love with Pick a Pattern

Hello again!

Welcome to CTC 166 where this week we are CASEing projects from the Painted with Love Section of the Occasions Catalogue, on Pages 18-21.

This section of the Catalogue is just gorgeous.  I am absolutely in love with the Gold Glitter Flakes and Painted with Love DSP, but I really went in quite the opposite direction for this challenge.

This challenge was a great excuse to pull out the Lots to Love Framelits Dies and create a box like you see in the centre of the above image.

I decided to create a box and used the image below to base my design off, but switched out the tags to use the new Whisper White Narrow Notecards for my project.

I’m not sure where the rest of the inspiration for this project came from, but I have been using a lot of florals for a while, so maybe my brain decided it had enough of those images.  As I played around the idea just evolved I guess! Lol.

Lots to Love about Pick a Pattern

CTC 166 - Lots to Love about Pick a Pattern by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I had forgotten how fun the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper actually is!  Lots of images to fussy cut and play around with.  I started by creating the notecards, loosely basing the layout on the images of the tags from the catalogue (above).  As I was playing, I was picturing images that you might capture whilst camping – without realising how easily that idea would coordinate with another one of the DSP sheets!  That’s where the box cover came to fruition.  Those cute little animals, polaroid snaps and camera images fitted so well with my overall plan!  The only image that was stamped was the ‘sun burst’ from the FREE Amazing You Stamp Set.

CTC 166 - Lots to Love about Pick a Pattern by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I really wanted to be able to see the images inside the box, so after I had adhered the black DSP, I used a circle from the Layering Circle Dies to create a window, popped a piece of window sheet on the inside and viola.  I really like how this little set turned out and it’s more masculine feel.  My mind is now racing to use the Flying Home Stamp Set and Hedgehugs to create a similar pack!

By purchasing the Lots to Love Framelit Dies, the Whisper White Narrow Notecards and the Pick a Pattern DSP you would actually qualify for a FREE Saleabration stamp set.  That means you could choose Amazing You and you would be able to recreate this project at home!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the amazing Kelly Kent and see what she has created for you all!

Happy Crafting 🙂

Seaside Shore Shadow Box Shaker Card

Hi all my crafty, creative friends!

Today I thought I would drop by and share one of my latest fun 3D cards.

My Grandad turned 94 yesterday, and I always like to make them something a bit more special!  My Nan really appreciates them! Lol.

So for this card I used a Bronwyn Eastley Tutorial – Mermaid Shaker Shadow Box Card.  Bronwyn’s tutorials are really easy to follow, with plenty of step by step instructions, including pictures!  You can take a look at here tutorials right HERE.

I adapted Bronwyn’s design and used my Seaside Shore Stamp Set to create my Seaside Shore Shadow Box Shaker Card!

Seaside Shore Shaker Shadow Box Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Adding a shaker element to a shadow box was so much fun! I can guarantee that this won’t be the only one of these types of cards I create! In fact – I’m already working on design number 2!  Who wouldn’t when you can create so much fun!

The Designer Paper used for this card is from the Myths and Magic Specialty DSP.  It’s a thicker card, making it sturdier and perfect to create these type of box cards!

These cards also fit perfectly into a normal C6 envelope! So you can even post them!  I added a white panel to the back of my card to write my birthday message!

I hope you like it!

Such an unusual combination of colours – but don’t they work so well together!

Tranquil Tide; Pool Party; Cherry Cobbler and Blushing Bride

are your colours for this weeks challenge.

I thought I had better get some Christmas momentum happening for this challenge, given that I am sooooo far behind in my Christmas card making this year – like – ridiculously behind!  I can see a lot of late nights looming ahead 🙁  I used Bronwyn Eastley’s Coffee Cafe Easel Card Tutorial for my project tonight.  I just couldn’t resist! After making a Vase with this design a few weeks ago – I was dying to try out a 3D Christmas Tree Card. So here it is…

Colour INKspiration 24 - 3D Christmas Tree by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I love a good 3D project, and the Tree from the Ready for Christmas Bundle suited this project perfectly.  Unfortunately it’s retiring at the end of the year – so you need to get it before it’s gone for good 🙁 The little birds are cut from the Tree Builder Punch.  And wasn’t I lucky that our new Stampin Blends have the matching colours to this weeks challenge!

Ready for Christmas Four Fold Card

Hi everyone!

I do hope you have all been able to squeeze in some crafty time during the madness that is December!  Life gets so hectic at this time of the year! It’s also so hard to believe we have reached the end of another year!  Is it just that they go faster as you get older?

I wanted to pop past today to share with you all a project that we created at my recent Our Inky Oasis Team Christmas Breakup!  They are always a bit of fun for everyone and we always complete a project.

This year we created a Four Fold Panel Card.  The original idea I saw was by Lyssa Zwalonek and you can see her post HERE.

I turned mine into a Christmas theme by using the At Home with You Bundle and the Ready for Christmas Bundle which will be retiring at the end of the current Holiday Catalogue. Bundles are always a bonus as you get a 10% discount when purchasing them!  Who doesn’t love that!

Here is the card we created… my Ready for Christmas Four Panel Fold Card.

This is the very front of the card using the At Home with you Bundle.  The rest of the card is created using the Ready for Christmas Bundle.

Here is the card fully opened with all it’s panels!  Here is a couple of close ups pics for you too 🙂

It’s not a card for the faint hearted, but it is so very effective!  I love how it turned out! It’s like being in someone’s house Ready for Christmas!

I altered my card inserts slightly as I wanted all the bases to line up nicely and as a Merry Christmas Gift to you all, I am including the tutorial for this project right here for you to download, so you can create your own special Christmas Scene. Just click on the link below 🙂

CTC 157 – Case a Colour Combination

Hi Happy Crafters!

Well nutty season has hit! Hands up if you ave finished creating your stash of Christmas cards yet – Yeah me neither! Lol.  I am bound to get there eventually.  I just need everything to STOP first, so I can sit and create and write and address and post them!

So because it’s not like I’m in a hurry to do that or anything … I decided to create something for CTC 157 instead – where this weeks challenge is to CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Selectively Edit) any Colour Combination in any Catalogue.

Despite needing to complete lots more Christmas cards, I decided not to do Christmas at all.  I have had a beautiful friends birthday this past week – so I created for her instead!  I wanted the card to be a bit more special than usual, so I called upon Bronwyn Eastley’s Tutorials to help me along.

Ever since I saw Bronwyn’s Coffee Cafe Easel Card I knew that I had wanted to try it with a vase, which would also be perfect for my friend’s birthday too and to top it off – the catalogue had the perfect colour combination for me to CASE. Don’t you love days you feel like you’re winning!

Here is the Colour Combination I decided to CASE.  You can find it on Page 28 of the current Annual Catalogue.

I love the simple colours, and it even helped me design my card!

So here is my version of Bronwyn’s Coffee Cafe Easel Card using the Jar of Love Framelits!

My Jar of Love Easel Card!

CTC 157 Jar of Love Easel Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis.

Now I can’t share how to actually create the easel – you’ll need Bronwyn’s tutorial for that!  But I can tell you that to get the variance in colours for your flowers, use the stamping off method.  That means you can get more use out of your available colours.  Each colour used here is only one ink pad.

To use the stamp off technique simply ink up your image in your chosen colour, stamp it once on to a scrap piece of paper (our Grid Paper is perfect for this), then, without inking your image stamp it again onto your card stock.  This will give you a ‘lighter’ version of the same colour.  The next image you stamp as normal, giving you the full colour strength.  It really does help you get more use out of your colours!

When creating my card, I really wanted it to give the impression of a vase of flowers on a little doily, like you would find on a table.  I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it could even be used as a decorative piece at home.

I hope you enjoyed my project tonight!

If you would like to take a look at how to make this card then you can hop on over to ADDinktive Designs HERE to purchase the tutorial!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Fi and see what she has created for you all!

Don’t forget you to can play along with our challenges every week.  Create your own project and post a pic on our Facebook Group right HERE.

Happy Crafting everyone!

New Catalogue Sneak Peak Magical Day

A big hello to you all my crafty friends!

I don’t know about you, but I am pretty excited about the new upcoming Occasions Catalogue and all the wonderful new products!

Did you know that a perk of being a demonstrator means we get to see all the new goodies first! and if you attend the Demonstrator Only On Stage event – you even get to play with some and take some home! WINNING!

Well I thought today that I would share just a little sneak peak of one of my absolutely new favourites that will be available at the beginning of January – The Magical Day Stamp Set.

I don’t normally share too much too early and ruin the excitement for you all … you know – it can be a bit of a wait and there are still so many lovely goodies in the Holiday catalogue to play with!  But I couldn’t resist sharing this one!

I used one of Bronwyn Eastley’s tutorials to create this card – The Lots of Labels Bridge Fold Box Card. You can purchase any of Bronwyn’s Tutorials at her ADDinktive Design Shop right HERE. She has LOADS to choose from!

Sneak Peak Magical Day Bridge Fold Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Sneak Peak Magical Day Bridge Fold Card by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

The Magical characters in this set are so much fun! I can’t wait to get my hands on the entire suite!

I used Bronwyn’s tutorial as a basis for the card and then added a draw bridge and used the ‘grass’ to create the ‘bridge piece’ for my card.  I simply trimmed away the grass lengths under where the draw bridge sits.

It’s so easy to create brilliant looking characters too with our new Stampin Blends.  I love that we can highlight and shade when colouring. I think it brings much more depth to the stamped images.  And – our Fine Tip Glue Pen can still be used to ‘colour’ over the images.  You can’t see it on the photos, but the Dragon’s belly, wing and fire are coloured with the Fine Tip Glue as is the shield and sword of the Knight to add a lovely glossy finish to the images.

I also embossed a piece of Smokey Slate Cardstock with our Brick Wall Embossing Folder, trimmed away portions to adhere to the card, and sponged them with some Smokey Slate Ink.

The card can even still be folded flat by lifting up the drawbridge and the folding as per instructions!

I love creating something just a little bit different and I was super happy with how this card turned out. I hope you like it to!
