Fairy Celebration Meets Sliding Stars

I have been playing with ….. you guessed it…..the Sliding Star Framelits still! I really can’t help myself! I love to see the images wizz around the card. It makes for so much fun!!!

This time I made a couple of different cards.  The first card I created the background paper of flowers from our Garden in Bloom Stamp, because I thought it would work beautifully for the cute little bee to buzz around the garden. It’s really easy to create your own papers, so I encourage you to give it a try!

Sliding star framelits and garden in bloom, card from My Paper Oasis.

Those tiny bees are too cute on the background! But I warn you – it’s super easy to loose that TINY matching framelit – so be careful!

I then decided to have a play with more of our Serene Scenery papers and my new Fairy Celebration stamp set.  I really wanted a cute fairy whizzing around too!

Fairy celebration meets sliding star framelits to create this adorable card from My Paper Oasis.

How enchanting is this card! I LOVE how it turned out.  To create the seamless background you just adhere the thin circle piece directly to the card base underneath, as the other pieces need to be mounted with dimensionals so the spinner works! I coloured a second set of wings using my stampin write markers, and then used our now retired 2 way glue pen before sprinkling them with some dazzling diamonds glitter.  Im sure it would work as well with a smear of tombow glue, but I was to impatient to wait for it to dry :-/

I hope enjoy some crafting time and give these cards a go. You won’t be disappointed!

BB-8 Sliding Star Galaxy Card

Hi everyone!

I hope you have been finding some time to relax and create!

I’m a little excited to share this card with you.  My sons birthday was coming up and he was getting a remote controlled BB-8 for his birthday, so I had an idea to create a BB-8 card.  But when I saw the amazing galaxy background demonstrated by Alisa Tilsner on her Facebook page – I knew exactly what I wanted to do! She has also made a blog post on how to recreate it yourself – here – so have a go. It’s lots of fun!

I have been playing HEAPS with the sliding star framelits! My youngest card maker extraordinaire is too! They really are so much fun.  I will be showcasing them in my next few projects.  I knew they would be perfect to make my mini BB-8 flying around in space!

BB-8, Galaxy background, stampin Up, my paper oasis, star wars, sliding star framelits

It’s safe to say that my son absolutely LOVED his birthday card this year.  I used reinkers instead of my stamp pads.  I find it easier to control the colour if I apply a drop of colour onto a clear block and mix from there. You definitely need the watercolour paper for this project too. A variety of circle punches and BB-8 was built 🙂

I hope you will give the background a try. Let me know how you go. You can even post your projects in the comments! I would love to see them!

Sliding stars meets swirly birds and cupcakes!

Hi fellow crafters!

I needed to make a couple of quick cards yesterday for birthdays that I had coming up this week. I was time poor, so I needed them to be fairly quick, but still a bit of fun. That’s when it came to me….my dad likes boats – so why not have a boat bobbing along the ocean with the help of the Sliding Star framelit dies! So that’s exactly what I did!

swirly bird, sliding stars, male birthday, boat card, slider card, my paper oasis, stampin up
It’s so fun to watch that little boat swirl and spin across the card. I popped a watercolour wash on a base of shimmery White cardstock, before using the Shooting Star framelit.  I then stamped and fussy cut the boat.  You need to raise the card front up on dimensionals to allow the spinner room to work and move. You make the spinner by using 2 x 5c pieces or washers stuck together with a dimensional, and tuck the bottom 5c piece under the card front and the other 5c piece over the top.

I find it works best by popping the 5cent piece under the card base first, apply the dimensional with the points trimmed to make it ‘roll’ better and then, after a few experiments, I actually found punching a circle piece or card using the 3/4″ circle punch and adhering that to the dimensional instead of another 5c piece works best. Then use a dimensional to adhere your image to the spinner, and away it goes. I hope that all makes sense.  Feel free to leave a comment for clarification 🙂

I decided ‘why stop there’ and then made a spinning cupcake too using the Sweet Cupcake bundle…

sweet cupcake, sliding star, slider card, birthday card, stampin up, my paper oasis
It’s a very simple card , but super quick to make and could easily be jazzed up a bit. I did use a wink of Stella on the icing though and flicked the gold wink of Stella around for a bit of extra pizazz!
I can see me getting so much use out of these sets for a long time to come!

Hope you have been getting your craft on!

No Bones About It Shaker Card

I get excited every time I get to pull the No Bones About It set off the shelf to use.  This time I was aiming for something a little different.  I was creating a first birthday card for my nephew.  Now first birthdays are pretty special…I mean…its when parents get to celebrate that they survived the first year – no mean feat I can tell you as a mum of 4!!!!!

But it’s pretty special for the little person too.  I mean – you never develop quite as much in your years as you do those first few. So a first birthday card has to be special right!!!!

Not only that, but I wanted to create something bright and funky for the CASEing the Catty Monthly Challenge this month! The catalogue is full of inspiration to help us create, CASE or be inspired and the birthday section never disappoints.  The projects that have really caught my eye this year are the fabulous bright colours of the Birthday Fiesta suite and the shaker cards!

So I set about to creating a bright, fun card that my nephew will still love in years to come….and who grows out of shaker cards??? They are always a bit of fun! With our brilliant new foam adhesive strips – making them has become so much easier!

Now I don’t yet have the Festive Birthday Designer Paper, so I had to use a recently retired paper (Cherry on Top) that was just as bright and colourful, and those birthday balloons fit the bill perfectly!

No bones about it, shaker cards, my paper oasis, dinosaurs, first birthday No bones about it, shaker cards, my paper oasis, dinosaurs, first birthday

I totally love the look of this overlay effect!

No bones about it, shaker cards, my paper oasis, dinosaurs, first birthday

It was such a fun card to make.  By using two acetate sheets on either side of the square cut out, you can then stamp the solid image on the background piece inside the card, to get the effect I created here. Just make sure you use stazon black ink for stamping on the acetate sheet in the front.

The best bit was – his whole party was dinosaur themed and I had no idea!!!! So it suited the occasion just perfectly!

So go get crafting…

Gorgeous Paper Gerbera’s

I was feeling a little low last week, so I did a couple of things to cheer myself up a bit.

First – I went for coffee and cake – by myself! I was out and about and thought ‘why not!’ So I spilt myself with a mocha and a lovely slice of chocolate roulade. I wish I had taken a picture for you all. Then I sat back, scrolled through a bit of Facebook and enjoyed the serenity!

As I continued my shopping I came across a florist and found these beautiful gerbera’s. The colour was enough to really brighten my day!

How gorgeous are they!!

So these beautiful flowers inspired me to create some of my own Gerbera happiness with my Stampin Up! supplies.  I have made paper gerbera’s before, but these ones were a little smaller as I used the soon to be retired 7/8″ scallop circle punch to make the flower.  Here it is –

I actually started with daffodil delight cardstock and then used a sponge dauber with pumpkin pie ink to colour the centre of each piece. I then snipped down to the centre of each flower in each ‘scallop’ and rolled each individual petal around a tooth pick to curve them – be warned its not for the feint hearted – your fingers definitely cramp up! And there were 3 layers of this one!

I did the same procedure with the very tiny flower from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack from the 2013-2014 catalogue (a long time ago I know, but I find it hard to get rid of ANY retired items :-/) You will need two layers for this one.  And then a little circle from the cupcake punch for the centre.  I glue all my pieces together with tombow and then poked some holes for effect in the centre circle using what I fondly refer to as the ‘pokey tool’, but is in fact the paper piercing tool!

The vase and sentiment are from the gorgeous hostess set ‘Floral Wings’ and of course the wonderful Trio Corner Punch (also retiring) for the corners!  And what is a petal without a sparkle of wink of stella to make it dazzle right!

This card is being gifted to a special friend ‘just because’ I can! I LOVE this job!

If you have ever though about joining Stampin Up! now is a fabulous time to do it! You get the extra perks of preorder before the new catalogue is even seen by anyone else! And its definitely got some ‘to die for’ sets ! I can’t wait!

Today I am sharing with you a couple of ‘Magical’ Cards that we have been making in class this week using the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set.  These type of cards are referred to magical slider cards.  You start with a pain black image, but as you pull out the slider, the image magically becomes coloured.

Isn’t the little chicken in this set just so very adorable! It looks  like a normal – albeit a bit boring – card so far – but just wait for the magic…..

Honeycomb Happiness, Saleabration 2016, magic slider class tutorial, my paper oasis, stampin up, halfway happiness blog hop

It’s hard to put into a photo as you really see the magic happen as you pull the slider.  I used one of the sheets from the Wildflower Fields DSP (another FREE sale-a-bration item) and simply randomly coloured a few of those spots with colours from the subtle collection.

Here is another example using the ice cream and the Birthday Bouquet DSP.

Now I need to ask you….Have you got the Balloon Celebration Bundle yet????

I cannot believe just how versatile this set is!  I have been creating so many cards with it – and it is soon very easy to do with this set.

Here is a couple of ideas for you…

This one is a quick and simple one to get you started, and varied just slightly from the catalogue using Pool Party, So saffron and Blushing Bride Inks.

From My paper Oasis; Balloon Celebration; Balloon Card; Balloon Bundle; quick and easy to make

This next one is one of my favourites.  I think it’s so soft and could be used for birthday, thank you, baby or sympathy card…Oh the versatility!

From My paper Oasis; Balloon Celebration; Balloon Card; Balloon Bundle; Birthday Card; Baby Card

Now, I am not sure if you have noticed, but there is the cutest little whimsy ‘fairy’ petal in this set – in two sizes.  When you heat emboss it in white, it gives the softest, delicate look – I LOVE it! So I CASEd the other card in the catalogue to begin with…

From My paper Oasis; Balloon Celebration; Balloon Card; Balloon Bundle; Birthday Card; Baby Card

Can you see those ink spots in the background? Some are using ink colours and an aqua painter, others are using our incredible new Gold wink of stellar pens!  I liked this one so much that I repeated the same, but using my favourite water colour technique…

From My paper Oasis; Balloon Celebration; Balloon Card; Balloon Bundle; Birthday Card;

What do you think? I hope I have helped you decide that you absolutely need this set.  I want to extend to you the same offer I have given to my newsletter subscribers this month.  If you purchase this bundle through me this month, I will send you the tutorials to make these cards!

Watercolour Wishes Card Kit

It seems I have been going mad for kit projects lately – and I HAVE!

I have kits super refreshing after such a busy year, to allow mw to create, without having to ‘think’ too much!

I took my Watercolour Wishes card kit away on a short trip with me as I knew i wouldn’t have to take anything else other than adhesive.  This kit truly has absolutely EVERYTHING you need to create 20 beautiful cards, in a number of different sizes.  It would be a great gift for the crafter who is just beginning or has very little supplies, as well as the experienced crafter.

The kit includes everything to decorate the 20 cards, including an exclusive stamp set, a mini clear block, two coordinating ink spots, dimensionals, embellishments, card bases and envelopes.  EVERYTHING! All packaged in a beautiful presentation box.

I have used sentiments specific to my needs – for my wonderful customers who place online orders through me – but the stamp set that comes with the kit has a great variety of sentiments – 10 in all!

There was also lots of embellishments left over – so I added more bling to my cards!

I HIGHLY recommend this kit. And remember – any $90 spent until March 31st will earn you Saleabration Freebies!

Sweet Stack Project Kit

I have had the Sweet Stack Project Kit sitting around here for AGES just begging to be made, and then when I finally pulled it out to complete it, my Early Espresso ink pad needed reinking – alas – it was one of the few reinkers I had not purchased, so it had to wait a bit longer.

I have been caught out a couple of times – so I vowed never to have to wait to craft again, and have all my reinkers now tucked safely away ready to use when needed!

When I finally got to sit down and complete the project, I was thrilled with the final result.  The kit has everything you need except the ink pads and matching stamp set (highly recommend it) and was super easy to follow and complete! The boxes even have the adhesive already applied for you!

I changed my colours up from the kit and used mint macaron on all my cake edges.  That meant I also had to make my own banner pieces – but I think it was well worth the effort!

And I haven’t added the candles as I want to be able to use it for all occasions.

my paper oasis, stampin up, sweet stack project kit, paper cake, cake boxes, birthday cake boxes, gift packaging

I also have the Cutie Pie thinlets die so I can make more cake pieces whenever I need to.

Fantastic for birthdays, christmas, gifts…any occasion!

What do you think?
