Hello again!
It’s Sunday night so that means it’s time for another CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop.
This week the crew will CASE (Copy and Share Everything) from the Petal Passion suite in the Occasions Catalogue on pages 22 – 27.
If you follow my Facebook Page then you would see I have been playing A LOT with the Petal Palette Suite. I absolutely love it! But tonight I thought I would pop a few more pages in and focus on the Charming Cafe Bundle on Page 25.
I know I say it a lot, but this bundle really caught my eye and I had been waiting (not so) patiently to purchase it for my ‘collection’. I am a bit of a sucker for a fancy framelit and these were no exception. What really grabbed my attention was how easily the framelits work together to make a multi layered or dimensional card.
I began by creating a bit of a quirky card CASEing the image above. However, I wanted my Chairs and tables behind the cafe window, so I added an acetate layer to my card. I need the stamp-a-majig to line it up properly in my window – which ended up being quite fiddly as the acetate kept moving when I tried to move the stamp-a-majig. Not for the feint of heart I tell you!
I didn’t mind the overall affect, but I was very impatient with my acetate as I used Momento Ink on it hoping to colour the brickwork, but it took far too long to dry and as you can see – it smudged and didn’t dry at all – so if you wanted to do this you could use the archival ink and colour from the back of the image.
Never mind…you live and learn and at least I had my colour choices right now, so on to my next project…the one I really wanted to create. A diorama card. I have made a few of these over the years and we all know I love a 3D card, but this set really just lent itself to creating one of these so very easily! The framelit that cuts out the seats and table whilst leaving the base intact does all the work for you for this card! I even pinched a couple of birdies from the Flying Home Stamp set! Shhhh. And colouring is sooooo simple with the Stampin Blends to really make your project pop!
Charming Cafe Diorama Card
Now I LOVE how this one turned out! I guess you could say I ended up CASEing myself! Lol!
What do you think?
Unfortunately I cannot find the You Tube video I used a few years ago to create a Diorama card, but I am giving away the tutorial with any order placed with me during March. And don’t forget – March is the LAST month to get any of the FREE Saleabration items with a $90 or $180 purchase! Don’t miss out!
Now it’s time to hop on over to Monique and see what she has created for you all xx

I’m loving that you shared the issues you had creating. It doesn’t always come easy does it. Mel? I do love the outcome though, good on you.
Sometimes it’s definitely trial and error, but thats all part of the fun! Thanks Rachel xx
Your diorama card is utterly charming, Mel and so pretty.
Thanks Judy xx
Two gorgeous cards Mel, with beautiful colouring. I love them both.
Thanks so much Peta xx
Both lovely cards Mel – your photograph doesn’t really show any smudging but I guess you know what works for you and what doesn’t – pleased to hear I’m not alone when it comes to having issues, but that’s how we learn too.
Thans Sandra 🙂 It’s always a learning experience!
Such a pretty card Mel – love it x
Thanks Angela.
Such sweet cards Mel! I don’t have that stamp set but you are making me think I might need it!
Thanks Megan xx
Great idea with changing up and adding layers, so beautiful
Thanks Monique 🙂
Love the diorama!!! And I love hearing about the journey to get there too. Window sheets are totally hard work sometimes, but so worth the effort to see your amazing card!! Such cleverness and awesomeness! You’re a total inspiration!
Such lovely words Julia. Thank you so much xx Yes, the journey is half the fun 🙂
Both cards look amazing! I wouldn’t have known anything was wrong with the first one. 🙂
Thanks Bec. Just a clever angle – trust me – it’s smudged 🙁
