Hi Everyone. Welcome to our next Colour INKspiration Challenge – number 15 to be exact!
How does Colour INKspiration work? I’m glad you asked!
We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand who, every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, create projects using inspired colour Combinations from pinterest. It’s loads of fun and we LOVE you to play along. So take the hop, be inspired, create your own work of art and then play along over in our Facebook Page!
This week’s colour challenge image is below:
Our palette this week is Elegant Eggplant; Bermuda Bay; Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party.
I was just a bit excited by this challenge as I don’t use Elegant Eggplant very much, and as much as I LOVE our new Lemon Lime Twist Colour – I REALLY struggle to use it in colour combinations. So this challenge was a fun way to give me a stretch! And just because I don’t use those colours very much – I really wanted them to be the feature of my card!
I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and splashed on some Lemon Lime Twist with my aqua painter, then followed that up with some touches of Elegant Eggplant wear the framelit would cut. Once that had dried, I cut out the framelit and trimmed the ‘friend’ out of the oval. I cut the framelit a further 3 times in whisper white, trimmed all the ‘friends’, then layered them together with the Fine Tip Glue Pen, before covering the entire word with the fine tip glue for a glossy look.
The background was created by stamping the ‘raindrops’ in Pool Party on the backing piece of whisper white, tracing the outline of the framelit and then picking out a selection of Pool Party sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment pack and adhering them in place (a tip I saw on Jennifer McGuire’s video’s). I really liked the idea instead of a shaker card, so you can permanently see the sequins in the background. I popped a piece of window sheet behind the framelit cut out and adhered an Elegant Eggplant sentiment piece that I had cut with the Layering Oval Framelits to give me an outline.
Some more watercoloring on Shimmery White with Pool Party and Bermuda Bay before cutting with little flowers from the Blooming Heart Thinlets, helped finish off the overall look – with a good smothering of Wink of Stellar of course! Lol.
We can’t wait to see what you create with this combination!
Now it’s time to hop on over to see what Jackie has created
Happy Creating everyone!

Wow what a marvellous card! And all those watercolour details are amazing! I love the glued sequins too. Brilliant idea.
Thanks Julia 🙂
Ooh very pretty Mel!
Thanks Simone 🙂
You’re right, the permanently fixed sequins add a lot of sparkle – and what a good idea to put a window sheet over them. I struggle with lime too, so I love these challenges as well. I think it looks much better in real life than any of the photos. Jennifer Mcguire has lots of great tips. Beautiful card Mel
Thanks so much Elizabeth. She is amazing isn’t she! And it is REALLY pretty in real life!
Love the 3D glossy texture and the framing on this card and the background wash is awesome x

The watercoloring has really given the colours such a fresh light feel Mel – love the variation on the sentiment and of course those sequins!
