CTC 143 Pocket Full Of Sunshine Gift Card

Hi everyone and welcome to CASEing the Catty Challenge 143.  This week we are taking inspiration for the Artistic Expression Section of the Annual Catalogue on Pages 132 -181.

CTC 143

So take the hop all the way around, be inspired, flick through the pages in the catalogue, create your own CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit) and then upload your own creation directly to our Facebook Page HERE. You have until next Sunday night to complete the challenge!

I had to create a birthday card this week for my son’s friend. I knew which stamp set I wanted to use, so I looked for some inspiration in what type of layout.

I chose to CASE the Flamingo design on Page 164 to create my Pocketful of Sunshine Gift Card.

I thought the layout would work really well, and I was wondering what to do on the background of my card to jazz it up a bit, so this card inspired me to use my recently purchased Marbled stamp set.

Here’s what I created…

CTC 134 Pocketful of Sunshine Gift Card by My Paper Oasis.

I am really liking this set, and the fact that a gift card fits perfectly inside the little pocket.  It really makes it super simple to make a quick card for the recipient!  I added the notes behind the gift card, so the pocket still has something in it once he uses his gift card.  I loved how quickly this card came together by simply taking a flick through the catalogue to get inspired, but still looks very different to the original!

I hope you enjoyed my creation this week.  Now it’s time to hop on over to Monique’s Blog and see what she has created this week!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

This Little Piggy Z Fold Card

Hi everyone!

I am super excited to announce that I have been chosen to be part of the addINKtive Design Team. Each month I will be showcasing one of the tutorials by the amazing Bronwyn Eastley.

To kick off my first month I decided to use Bronwyn’s One Wild Ride Z-Fold Card Tutorial with its special slider feature.  Bronwyn’s instructions are very clear and simple to follow, so you can adapt her designs to create your very own…like I did for my version!

Bronwyn’s design is a masculine card, but I changed mine up for just a bit of fun and created my This Little Piggy Z Fold Card … he he he…

This Little Piggy Z-Fold Slider Card by My Paper Oasis for AddINKtive Design Team

When I saw her design the idea of a little piggy running along a fence just bounced into my head, so of course I had to create it!

I created the background using the ombre papers from the Colour Theory Designer Series Paper Stack.  Simply use Bronwyn’s measurements and lay a Blue piece on top of a Green Piece, then cut the rolling hills. Seperate them and then match your bottom green piece to your top blue piece and voila – instant rolling hills with shades of blue and green!  The only thing I did do was mark where I needed to begin cutting the next pieces so my ‘hills’ would meet.

I pulled out the much neglected (in my craft room anyway) Sprinkles of Life stamp set and punch  to create the trees, apples, birds and flowers.  I had truly forgotten how versatile this amazing stamp set can be! Did you know it also makes cupcakes, ice creams, clouds, baskets and bunches of flowers!

I did change up the slider section slightly as I wanted it to look more like a fence, so I created two strips rather than one, and used a couple of the punched pieces for fence posts at the start and end of the slider.

Some embossing paste for fluffy clouds and the cute little piggies and I was finished! It’s just a bit cute and fun to slide that piggy along the fence! Lol. And the best bit – these cards fold flat for posting!

If you love this and would like to know how to create your own – just pop over to the AddINKtive Designs Tutorial shop HERE and purchase the tutorial. Simple 🙂

Colour INKspiration 16 – Just Add Colour

It’s the second Wednesday of the month, so that means it’s time for another Colour INKspiration Challenge.

Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month the design team create projects using Colour Schemes inspired by Pinterest.  You can take the hop, see everyone’s projects and then play along by uploading your work of art on our Facebook Page HERE.

This week we have a very cool colour palette to play along to. Our colour selection is Whisper White; Dapper Denim; Sahara Sand and Basic Grey!

These are great masculine colours to play with to create cards just in time for Father’s Day here in Australia, but you might say I went in completely the opposite direction 🙂

As I mulled over the colours in my head, I thought about how pretty the blue and white would be to create the look of Wedgewood China pieces.  Then I had a lightbulb moment where I realised that our new Just Add Colour Speciality Designer Series Paper had some images of Teapots and cups, so I knew that is what I would use.  When thinking about incorporating the rest of the colours an image just evolved in my head about the look i wanted to achieve.  I have seen some stunning U-Fold cards and more recently a ‘Bench Fold Card’ by The Craft Spa – take a look at her work HERE. Here work is lovely, so I wanted to have a try at my own.

Colour INKspiration 15 - 3D Bench Card using Just Add Colour DSP by My Paper Oasis

My card doesn’t fold flat for posting, but I thought it would be lovely as a gift to welcome someone to their new home, or for Mother’s Day. And it was truly such a fun card to make once I had played around with some measurements!

I would have loved to have added a vase with flowers, but alas – I couldn’t make it work with the selected colours for this challenge.

I hope you enjoyed my project today.

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Jacque Williams and see her stunning project!

Happy Crafting!!!!

CTC 142 – Love and Sympathy and Brightly Lit Christmas

Hi everyone.  Welcome to CTC 142 – Love and Sympathy and Brightly Lit Christmas!

Wait what??????

Yes, this week we are taking a look at the Love and Sympathy Section on pages 86 – 101 of the Annual Catalogue.

And I finally did it….I finally chose to do a little christmas with my card making using the – you guessed it – Brightly Lit Christmas Bundle.

I haven’t seen that bundle I hear you say – you would be right again!  It’s one of our Brand New products in the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. And I’m just a sucker for a good framelit – so it was in my ‘must have’ lists (one of the great perks of being a demo is playing with the new stuff before anyone else!)

The base for my card design this week was using the Tranquil Tide card image on the bottom right of page 94 of the catalogue –

It was a bit different for a Christmas Card, and I must admit – I decided not to make a traditional Christmas Card either.  You see, I have a few friends that like ‘non-traditional’ cards and Christmas is no exception.  So I chose Black and White and silver!

CTC142 Brightly Lit Christmas in Non Traditional Colours by My Paper Oasis

It was a bit tricky to get a good pic of this card, but I layered up the lamppost by cutting the framelits 3 times in Basic Black before adding the last layer of Silver Foil.  The Fine Tip Glue Pen works really well when applying this technique.  Doing this really makes the Lamppost pop right off the card and give it a 3D effect.

And did you know our Merry Music DSP is actually the music for the Christmas Carols! I have a little musician in the house, so we thought that was a pretty cool touch to add to the Designer Paper!

I am a pretty traditional girl myself, so I can’t say I’m 100% sure about the non traditional look! What do you think?

Now it’s time to hop over to Kathryn’s blog and take a look at what she has created this week!

Happy Creating!

CTC 141 – Birthday Foil Frenzy Pretty Packaging

A big hello to all our regular CASEing the Catty blog hoppers and a warm welcome to those who are new!

CASEing the Catty is a weekly hop, where every Sunday the design team showcases projects from a particular section of the catalogue by Copying And Sharing (CASEing) with you how they have used the design and changed elements, colours, textures or anything else to make it their own.

This week we are focusing on the Birthdays Section of the Catalogue on Pages 68 – 85.

I decided to use the image on Page 76 this week to create some Birthday Foil Frenzy Pretty Packaging using this as the basis for my design –

Have you noticed our gorgeous Foil Frenzy Designer Series Paper in the catalogue?  It is hard to miss with all it’s beautiful sparkle in 4 different colours and 3 beautiful designs!  But just in case – you will find it on page 77 or 189 of the Annual Catalogue.

It is perfect for creating pretty packaging – so thats exactly what I did!

CTC 141 Birthday Foil Frenzy Pretty Packaging By Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

I chose to use the Soft Sky Spotted Page for my project as it coordinated well with the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper, not to mention the gorgeous Pool Party Shimmer Ribbon – Oh My Goodness – It’s so soft and smooth – I LOVE it!  I cut out my favourite bear image and touched up some areas like the balloons, hat and bears noses, with the Fine Tip Glue Pen to add some extra shine.

The Pool Party strip of Cardstock under the tag was finished with the Ticket Tear Border Punch for a bit of added fun!

Creating boxes is pretty easy really!  My top was created by trimming 1/2″ of two sides (with an adjoining corner) of the 12″ x 12″  foil frenzy sheet.  I then scored all four sides at 2″ before folding on score lines, cutting one of the score lines in each corner, folding in and adhering the tabs to the inside panels.  To create a base that fits perfectly, just trim an extra 1/8″ off two sides again from the box base piece, score at 2″, cut tabs as before and adhere to create your box base.  It really does save all that measuring!

Here is a close up of the tag –

I do hope I have encouraged you to try and create some of your own gorgeous birthday or gift boxes!

And don’t forget – once you have taken the hop, get creating and come back to our Facebook page and upload your own creation for us to admire HERE!

Colour INKspiration 15

Hi Everyone.  Welcome to our next Colour INKspiration Challenge – number 15 to be exact!

How does Colour INKspiration work?  I’m glad you asked!

We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand who, every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, create projects using inspired colour Combinations from pinterest.  It’s loads of fun and we LOVE you to play along.  So take the hop, be inspired, create your own work of art and then play along over in our Facebook Page!

This week’s colour challenge image is below:

Our palette this week is Elegant Eggplant; Bermuda Bay; Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party.

I was just a bit excited by this challenge as I don’t use Elegant Eggplant very much, and as much as I LOVE our new Lemon Lime Twist Colour – I REALLY struggle to use it in colour combinations.  So this challenge was a fun way to give me a stretch!  And just because I don’t use those colours very much – I really wanted them to be the feature of my card!

Colour INKspiration 15 featuring Lovely Inside and Out by Stampin Up with the new Lemon Lime Twist!

I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and splashed on some Lemon Lime Twist with my aqua painter, then followed that up with some touches of Elegant Eggplant wear the framelit would cut. Once that had dried, I cut out the framelit and trimmed the ‘friend’ out of the oval.  I cut the framelit a further 3 times in whisper white, trimmed all the ‘friends’, then layered them together with the Fine Tip Glue Pen, before covering the entire word with the fine tip glue for a glossy look.

The background was created by stamping the ‘raindrops’ in Pool Party on the backing piece of whisper white, tracing the outline of the framelit and then picking out a selection of Pool Party sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment pack and adhering them in place (a tip I saw on Jennifer McGuire’s video’s).  I really liked the idea instead of a shaker card, so you can permanently see the sequins in the background.  I popped a piece of window sheet behind the framelit cut out and adhered an Elegant Eggplant sentiment piece that I had cut with the Layering Oval Framelits to give me an outline.

Some more watercoloring on Shimmery White with Pool Party and Bermuda Bay before cutting with little flowers from the Blooming Heart Thinlets, helped finish off the overall look – with a good smothering of Wink of Stellar of course! Lol.

We can’t wait to see what you create with this combination!

CTC 140 – Babies, Kids and Pocketful of Sunshine

Welcome to CTC 140, where this week the crew are taking inspiration from cards in the Babies and Kids section of the Annual catalogue, on pages 102 – 111.

Such a fun section of the catalogue to CASE!

This week I really wanted to show you that even though we are using the Babies and Kids section – you don’t necessarily have to make a babies and kids project.  You can take inspiration from any designs in the catalogue and create them to suit your need.

So here is the image I used this week –

You may remember last time I played along with this category, I CASEd the card on the right!  This week, I am CASEing the card on the left.

I hadn’t inked up my Pocketful of Sunshine yet and was dying to get it out for a play!  For this challenge I teamed it with Beautiful Bouquet Bundle and created this card –

CTC 140 - Pocketful of Sunshine and Beautiful Bouquet by Mel Pagano at My Paper Oasis

Instead of stamping onto the background, I pulled out our gorgeous Embossing Paste for a bit of extra fun and texture to the card.

White craft ink gave me the stitching on the pocket and as much as I love the sentiments in the Beautiful Bouquet set, I decided to leave this one blank for now, so I can pop on a sentiment when I decide the destination of the card 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this weeks creation.  Don’t forget to hop all the way around and come back and upload your design to our Facebook Page HERE.

Now its time to pop over to the lovely Simone Bartrum and see what she has created for you all!

Happy Creating!
