Colour INKspiration 08

Hello and welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge #08!

At Colour INKspiration, we play and create using a different colour palette every fortnight.  It’s a fantastic way to stretch your creativity and I encourage you to join in.  We have a dedicated Facebook group where you can upload your own creation to right HERE.

I missed the last challenge, so I was determined NOT to miss this one! And boy is this a challenging one!

I love this picture but I must admit, I was a bit daunted initially with the colour palette – Delightful Dijon; Tip Top Taupe; Soft Suede; Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.  But after a little pondering I realised what it reminded me of … the colours of a sepia photo …you know the ones … with just a hint of colour to highlight a certain area.

Once I had that idea in my head I knew exactly which stamp set to reach for – so I am giving you a little sneaky peak at one of our new upcoming sets from the Birthday Memories Suite. It is sooooooo adorable!

Isn’t she gorgeous!  I used the masking technique for the addition of the flowers before lightly water colouring them with Delightful Dijon. I created the sepia effect by watercoloring around the image of the girl lightly with Soft Suede, then inside the image gradually building with small amounts of colour until I was happy with it.  As this is on Very Vanilla Cardstock, I did have to make sure that my aqua painter was not very wet or it would ruin the card.

The flowers were created with the Succulent Flower Dies (retiring item) simply sponged in Delightful Dijon, curling the tips under and then layered on each other.

CTC 125 – Favourite Bigshot Project!

Hi crafty friends and welcome!

It’s Sunday night, so that means it’s time for another CASEing the Catty blog hop.  I’m pretty excited about this weeks challenge!  We get to showcase our favourite Big Shot project from the occasions catalogue!

How hard was it to choose! I mean, the Occasions Catalogue had so many great Big Shot projects.  The Lift Me Up Bundle, Custom Tee’s, Nailed It, So Succulent Bundle and not to mention the So Detailed Thinlets, Cool Treats and Dragonfly Dreams!

But for me – well, let’s just say that I am an absolute sucker for a box – so my choice for this weeks challenge just had to be the Window Box Die.

I had seen a picture from Pauline Barnfather at icreatecraft, who had designed a timber like box. I immediately fell in love with it and have been wanting to create my own version since. So this was my chance.  I really wanted to create an antique style box, that reminded me a little of an old jewellery box.  Some Soft Suede cardstock stamped with the Hardwood stamp helped me easily achieve that!

I am so happy with the way it turned out.  Once I created the box I knew it needed some beautiful flowers to top it off.  I haven’t created these flowers for a few years now, so it was fun to really play and make them again.  I used the Flower Shop stamp and co-ordinating punch to create them.  Here’s a better look at the top for you.

Luckily I had kept hold of my retired Antique Brads from a couple of years ago.  I think it really enhances the antique feel of the box perfectly and acts like a little handle to lift the lid open!

You can take a look at how I created these flowers, with my You Tube Link,  at this post – 3D Flower Making.

I hope you have enjoyed tonight’s project.  Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Judy May and see what beautiful project she has created for you!

CTC 124 – Hostess Sets Love You Lots!

Hi everyone!

Happy Easter (I hope it’s been lovely for you) and welcome to this weeks CASEing the Catty Challenge -CTC 124! You may be starting here, or arrived from Kathryn’s page – but make sure you keep hopping around to see all the amazing inspiration provided!

This week we get to CASE any of the hostess sets from any of the catalogues!

For me that meant I was going to CASE a project using the Love You Lots Stamp Set.  My most favourite Hostess Set Ever!  What’s not to love about all those cute critters.  I will be sad to see this one retire at the end of May, but I will be hanging on to my set for future use!

I decided to focus on the card on the right from the image below …

A simple, quick notecard that could be created using any set really.  I began by CASEing the card directly, but substituting colours and ribbon for wash tape, and of course using Love You Lots!

I know that ribbon has retired recently from Saleabration, but it just set the card off nicely with a bit of silver bling!

Then I moved on to a similar card, utilising one of the other Sunshine Wishes Framelits, but still those cute bugs …

CTC 122 – Falling in Love with So Detailed Thinlets!

Hi everyone and welcome back to another CASEIng the Catty Challenge.  This week is CTC 122 where we are focusing on the Falling in Love section of the Occasions Catalogue from pages 50 – 54.

There’s only a few pages to this section, but boy are there some lovely projects to CASE. I focused on this one ….

The pretty cluster of flowers caught my attention, set off with the gold leaf and the die.  I actually hadn’t paid a whole heap of attention to the stamp set until I saw those flowers – now I need it – but you all know how that goes! Lol.  I also didn’t want to make a card – but the idea of a scrapbook layout hit me (it doesn’t happen often – so when it does I make sure I act on it!)

So here is what I designed …

CTC 122 Falling in Love with So Detailed Thinlets by My Paper Oasis, Stampin' Up!, scrapbook page

CTC 122 Falling in Love with So Detailed Thinlets by My Paper Oasis, Stampin' Up!, scrapbook page

I used the flower from the Butterfly Basics stamp sets and just fussy cut a ‘few’ out to create the flower bunch.  I stamped them in Sahara Sand and the sponged them lightly with Blushing Bride ink.  I used the stunning Flower Die in the So Detailed Thinlets Dies instead of the heart one in the image. All teamed with the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper and a special touch of gold! I love the way it turned out – but my goodness – that photo makes me feel old! It seems like a lifetime ago!

Don’t forget to hop around and see everyone else’s creations for some extra inspiration, and then join in the fun by uploading your own project to the album CTC 122 on the Facebook Page right HERE!

Now it’s time to hop on over to the lovely Elizabeth Gross to see what she has created today!

Happy Crafting everyone!
