Mini Desk Calendar with Lift Me Up Bundle

Hi everyone,

I had lots of fun this week sharing on my Facebook Live video how to make these handy little desktop calendars, that are quick and easy to create!  I used the Lift me Up bundle to decorate them, combined with the stitched shape framelits (don’t you love how those framelits really add pop to your images and backgrounds!)

These are so handy to keep on your desk or by a phone for a quick reference for dates.  I managed to pick up some of these little calendars at a local Papercraft Show, but they can usually be found online if you are looking for some.

And you can get the gorgeous Carried Away Designer Series Paper (DSP) for FREE when you spend $90! That’s as easy as purchasing the Lift Me Up Bundle in clear mount and a pack of Night of Navy Cardstock! You can shop securely anytime in my online store HERE from ANYWHERE in Australia!

Below is the list and measurements of what you need to make your very own calendars and go to My Paper Oasis Youtube channel to see how to create it 🙂

What you need –

Base – Night of Navy Cardstock: a piece 8″ x 4″ and scored at 4″ and 6″ on long side; a piece 4″ x 3 3/4″ for top section; a piece 3 1/8″ x 2″ for under the calendar itself.

DSP (Carried Away) – a piece 3 7/8″ x 3 5/8″ for top section and a piece 3 7/8″ x 2 3/8″ for under calendar.

Scrap of Mint Macaron for largest square of Stitched Shape Framelits.

Whisper White for stamped image and cloud.

This week we have another gorgeous colour combination.  I love how images can be the inspiration for our colour choices – it inspires us to use colour combinations we may never have thought of!  This weeks colours combine Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky, Mint Macaron, Whisper White and Garden Green – and does that image remind you of anything! Just our succulent set in the Occasions Catalogue!

I don’t have the succulent set myself – but I had an upcoming class using the Jar of Love Bundle – so I thought these colours would be perfect to inspire my class project!

I used the Stamp Off method to create my flowers, giving the appearance of two different colours so they had more depth.  Its such a great method to use when you have a limited supply of colours – or only have certain colours to work with – like a colour challenge! The class ladies loved it too!

Hop on over to the amazing Simone Bartrum to see what gorgeous project she has created for this challenge by clicking on the image below!

And don’t forget – you can easily play along too without a blog – just post your pic over on the Colour INKspiration Facebook Page – HERE.  We are looking forward to seeing your amazing creations.

CTC112 – Cupcakes and Carousels

We are back this week for another CASEing the Catty Challenge!  We have had some fantastic entries over on our Facebook Page – so keep them coming – we are so glad you are enjoying the new way to play along!  This week for our challenge we are taking inspiration form the Cupcakes and Carousel section of the Occasions Catalogue on pages 8 – 13.  Remember, you don’t have to have any of the stamps sets to play along, you just use the images in the catalogue to spur your creativity! It may be the paper, colours used, images, designs or layouts that you use to inspire you to create your project!

I cannot tell you how much I love this suite (I know – I love just about all of them! Lol) – but this suite makes it easy! And it has a real vintage feel about it! I love the DSP paper stack (I just wish they were 12×12!), the colours that are used in the suite and the stamp sets! It made it so easy to create my projects…and I guess I took inspiration from it all!

The one thing that really caught my eye in this picture were the Rosette’s . I used to love making these, but had forgotten about them – until now! So I knew I had to use them for this challenge.

I set about creating a scrapbook page using the Carousel Birthday Set – it came together so quickly for me, which surprised me, because I am not a natural scrapbooker!  It just goes to show…when you have the right products its easier to create!

Do you see the stamped Carousel Horse Image on my page?  I took inspiration from one of the actual papers in the DSP stack- this one –

I love the way they looked, so I made my own.  Its easy to do – just stamp your image in the lightest base colour (in this case peekaboo peach) and the ink up other ares using a sponge dauber with your stronger colours (calypso coral and early espresso). See – easy and SUPER effective!

I didn’t stop there with this suite either.  I decided to have a bit of fun and made this 3D carousel, well, just because I could, using a large rosette for the roof! And if you are wondering how the centre is made – it’s from our empty ribbon spools – I never throw them out! Lol.

I hope you enjoyed these creations this week!  This suite is LOADS of fun, so I encourage you to have a play and join the challenge.  Simply upload a picture of your creation to the album on the Facebook page HERE.

Now it’s time to hop on over to the wonderful Julia Quinn and see what she has created for you all!

CTC111 – Saleabration of Hey Chick

Its time for another CTC challenge and this time, we can CASE anything from the Saleabration Catalogue! How fun is that… there was sooooo much to choose from but I knew exactly where to start!

From my first sneaky peak of the Saleabration Catalogue at On Stage I knew that I had to have the Hey Chick Stamp set.  Those chickens are so darned cute I couldn’t help myself.  It was the first Saleabration set I added to my order.  Apart from the chicken with the crazy hairdo, my other favourite was they way the chicken had been coloured on page 17 –

She is so bright and colourful and not really what you expect your chicken to be! So I just had to put her on a card! So on she went – Ready in time for my new product play day this week, so others can make her too!

I love how our stitched Framelits really set off images! And the great news is – they will be back in stock and ready to order from the 16th of January! The cool chicken wire background was created using the new hexagons dynamic embossing folder.  Simply pat your ink on the raised edges, lay your card stock over the top and rub gently with your bone folder or sponge brayer and voila…instant background from any embossing folder! And it coordinates perfectly with our little chickens!

Hope you like her!  Now pop on over to Julia Quinn’s blog to see what she has created for us this week!

And don’t forget – you can play along too on our Facebook Page by clicking HERE!

Watch my video at My Paper Oasis to see how this was created.

Card Base – crumb cake

Card Layer one – real red 5 5/8″ x 3 7/8″

Card Layer two – whisper white 5 3/8″ x 3 5/8″

We have a fantastic colour challenge this week to get you started! Full of pretty pastels! Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise and Peekaboo Peach!  Pick at least three – or up to all six! Neutrals are welcome – black, white, vanilla, crumb cake, kraft and sahara sand!

What a gorgeous colour palette to begin playing with!

I initially started by making a watercolour wash on some shimmery white to mimic the sky, using tempting turquoise, so saffron and blushing bride, which I planned to pair with our new Lift Me Up Bundle. But once I had it completed I instantly went back to my childhood – enjoying a cone with lovely gelato ice-cream flavours! You know…the kind you don’t seem to be able to find anymore!  Well, lucky for me Saleabration has the perfect set for me to use! Yep, out came Tasty Trucks to create my gelato heaven!

I gave the truck a light wash of mint macaron and sweet sugarplum and then cut out the shape and windows before ‘colouring’ it with our fine tip glue pen to give it a glossy finish. I also finished off the ice creams with 2 coats of the fine tip glue pen to give them a bit of lift and shine!  The sentiment was from the Suite Sentiments set and was perfect for my gelato card finished off with Copper Embossing powder!

Don’t forget – you can get your very own Tasty Trucks Set with any purchase over $90 whilst Saleabration is on! Just use my handy ‘Shop Now’ button to get your supplies.

I hoped you liked my creation! Continue on to Kathryn’s blog to see her use of the colour challenge! And don’t forget to join the challenge yourself over on our Facebook group!

Bokeh Technique using Beautiful You!

Hi everyone.

It is lovely to be back creating again after my break!  But I can tell you – some of my mojo seems to disappear when I haven’t been in the craft room for a while! So I started with something that I have wanted to create since seeing the Beautiful You Stamp Set in the New Occasions Catalogue.

I wanted to create a stormy effect to use with the lady carrying the umbrella.  I have used the Bokeh Technique in the past, and new I would be able to create the background I was looking for – so off I went!

I demonstrated how to make this card Live on Facebook this week, so you can easily make it too! Take a look at my video at My Paper Oasis – and scroll down for the card measurements.

Here’s another one using the same technique, but this time I used Blushing Bride and Rose Red to create the background.

This set is truly lovely.  So many possibilities for lots of occasions! And that FONT!!!!!  But if you don’t feel like creating your own Bokeh Backgrounds, our new Designer Series Paper – Falling in Love – has made it truly easy for you! With not one, but three different Bokeh Backgrounds to choose from, creating this card has never been simpler!

I hope you like these examples of this technique and that they encourage you to have a go at creating your own!

CTC110 – Party Animal

I have some very exciting news to share with you all! I have been invited to join the team over at CASEing the Catty! Its a weekly blog hop, where every Sunday Night the team CASE different sections of the catty to inspire your creativity!  It’s loads of fun….and you can play along too!

This week is all about CASEing the Party Animal Section from pages 4-7 of the New Occasions Catalogue! (Have you seen it yet? It’s spectacular!)

I absolutely love the Cake Crazy Stamp Set on Page 7 and I needed a female birthday card, so I took inspiration from the card on the left. I love the way it stacks!

My order hasn’t arrived yet with this lovely set, so I improvised using the new Birthday Bright Set available in the Occasions Catalogue on Page 13, to create my very own cake stack card.  Its quite easy to do with the photopolymer stamps – but if you are not confident you can always use the stamp-a-ma-jig!

I did add a little bit of sparkle by using the Gold embossing powder instead of the white and I was pleasantly surprised at how well this stamp set ‘stacks’!

And seeing as I have been taking a break and was keen to get creative again, I decided to make another card using the same set, but this time I used the base of the centre card below for inspiration.

I thought the little banner pieces in the set would be prefect to create a focal point on my card.  I simply lined them all up on a single block and stamped away before applying my white embossing powder!

And let me tell you – that white ribbon in the new Occasions Catty is fast becoming a favourite of mine! It’s the perfect size for card makers!

I hope this has given you some inspiration for creating!  You can now hop over to Jackie’s blog to see what she has created for you all!

Don’t forget you can play along too by using the link tool below or by joining our BRAND NEW Facebook group – CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge – where you can play along by adding your photo to the related challenge album.

I’m really looking forward to being a member of the Caseing the Catty to help inspire you all!

Happy crafting
